Hello Members of the Class of 2020
In light of the recent announcement from President Monaco regarding Commencement 2020 and the cancelation of all student organization events for the remainder of the spring semester, the Tufts University Social Collective will unfortunately be canceling all in-person Senior Week events. We are working towards finding alternative ways to celebrate the senior class, and are already in discussions with the Office of Alumni Relations and TCU Treasury to put together a special in-person celebration for the Class of 2020 during the anticipated alumni events in June 2021.
As a student-run organization and as fellow members of the senior class, we share the desire to celebrate our accomplishments together as the Class of 2020. However, we need to put the safety of our community first. Massachusetts has placed restrictions on all non-essential businesses, and with the uncertainty over when this global health emergency will end, many of our vendors and venues are not permitting organizations to reschedule events for spring or summer 2020 at this time.
Members of TUSC have formed a new subgroup, Tufts University Social Distancing (TUSD), and will be working to put together a lineup of virtual programming for the remainder of the semester. Updates on virtual offerings specifically for the Class of 2020 will be posted on tusc.tufts.edu/senior-events and on the Senior Week Facebook Event in the coming weeks. If you have specific ideas for virtual celebrations, please do not hesitate to contact us at tusc@tufts.edu.
This has been an unforgettable four years and we are devastated that this is the way we must end our time together, but we take comfort in the memories that we have made on the Hill and look forward to celebrating with you soon.
