Jeffery Galloway Makes Time for a Fur-iend in Need
Jeffery Galloway with the Port of Portland Police Department was nominated by a PDX traveler:
"I was driving a friend to PDX when we stopped short on Airport Way as a dog ran across the busy road. I parked, and my friend and I went to help catch the runaway dog. Along with a person who was already in pursuit, we got the dog to the TriMet fence line, but it continued to evade us. At this point, Sergeant Galloway stopped and offered assistance.
He handed dog treats to all the volunteers trying to catch the loose pup. He had a leash available, personally tried to catch the dog, and used his vehicle to alter oncoming traffic for everyone's safety. Sergeant Galloway, along with PDX wildlife services personnel, worked for a long time in the cold rainy night to gain the dog's trust and try to get the stray to safety. At this point, I had to head home, but they were still in pursuit when I left. Their efforts are greatly appreciated by all!"
Pupdate: The canine escapee was eventually caught and now is in their happy forever home!

June Marks Pride Month
June is designated nationally as Pride Month to commemorate the struggle for civil rights and ongoing pursuit of equal justice under the law for the LGBTQIA2S+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and/or Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, Two-Spirit) community, as we learn about and recognize the accomplishments of LGBTQIA2S+ individuals.
The event that catalyzed the gay rights movement happened in June 1969, when police raided the Stonewall Inn, a popular gay bar in the Greenwich Village section of New York City. In response, the street erupted into violent protests that lasted for the next six days. The Stonewall uprising marked a major turning point in the modern gay civil rights movement in the United States and around the world.
Take this time to celebrate the LGBTQIA2S+ community and reflect on the many ways you can honor Pride Month:

PDX in Pictures
Is the PDX carpet so iconic it deserves not one, but two, feature articles in The Oregonian? Read them both and be the judge!
Some fun facts: The carpet design was hand-drawn, it was originally installed in 1988 and the carpet (nicknamed "Peedee") was the Grand Marshal of the Rose Festival’s 2015 Starlight Parade.
