Dear Andover alumni, alumnae, and friends,
As communities around the world grapple with the Coronavirus outbreak, we write to share updates about Andover’s steps to safeguard the health and wellbeing of our community.
Academy leaders have been meeting regularly since January, and have been in constant communication with the Board of Trustees, to assess steps needed to care for students, residential and non-residential faculty and staff, and campus visitors. Some of the Academy’s recent decisions also affect Andover gatherings away from campus.
As of March 11, 2020, decisions affecting advancement activity are:
- Domestic and international travel by faculty and staff for Andover-sponsored activity is suspended through May 1;
- Andover-sponsored events off campus that are scheduled through May 1 will be postponed or cancelled;
- On-campus events involving outside guests that are scheduled through May 1 will be postponed or cancelled.
Those who are registered for events that will now be cancelled or postponed will receive specific messaging once we coordinate with hosts and featured guests. We anticipate most of that communication will be completed by March 13.
As the crisis conditions evolve daily, we have not at this point changed plans for events in May and June, including Reunion Weekend. We are actively planning for additional shifts, however, and will communicate them as soon as any new decisions are reached.
As we work to meet the needs of our campus and global communities, we send our well wishes and prayers to everyone in the Big Blue family that you and your loved ones will be safe and healthy. The outreach we have received from many parts of the world and the care you express for the school and each other is inspiring. Thank you for your boundless commitment to Andover, and for your patience and understanding as we navigate these extraordinary circumstances.
