On May 2, Dean Horváth hosted the Annual Dean’s Society Donor Reception at the Rob and Cheryl McEwen Graduate Study & Research Building. Donors, scholars and Schulich community members celebrated the leadership and generosity of Dean’s Society supporters. Guests were treated to a cocktail reception and an exciting showcase of innovative and thought-provoking faculty research presented by top Schulich scholars.

On May 8, Schulich Women in Business 2019 attracted more than 200 newly admitted and prospective students at an event that featured accomplished alumni female speakers who shared their wisdom, successes and challenges with the audience. The evening included the opportunity for students to network with Schulich alumni, student leaders, faculty, senior administrators and distinguished industry leaders.
The event inspired, motivated and proved to female students that Schulich was the environment where they could thrive academically.
Special thanks to KPMG for sponsoring the event and for SSIR for coordinating a fantastic evening for women.

The Schulich Finance Alumni Association (SFAA) hosted their Spring Social on May 15. It was an enjoyable evening for alumni interested and working in finance to connect at this bi-monthly social.

The Hong Kong Alumni Chapter welcomed Dean Horváth at a special Alumni Dinner and Dialogue on May 20 at the Dynasty Club. Thank you to our Hong Kong Co-Chapter Presidents, Helen Wong (IMBA '92) and Adrian Chau (MBA '00) for their leadership in organizing a successful and engaging evening that included remarks from Bill Graham (MBA ’86), David Bell and Aloma Gravel.

Singapore was the next stop for the Dean as he was welcomed by one of the biggest alumni socials held on May 22 at Bar Square. Alumni enjoyed hearing from Dean Horváth about the latest updates from the School as well as the new programs being launched. It was a great evening of reconnecting for the Dean, Bill Graham (MBA '86), David Bell and Aloma Gravel. Thank you to our chapter representatives Thomas Mayr (BBA ‘07), Firmin Yau (IMBA ’08) and Thanh Vu (iBBA ’12) for their support in organizing a terrific event.

Dubai, UAE marked the final stop for the Dean. A special Alumni Iftar dinner was held in his honour on May 26. More than 30 Schulich Alumni attended this special evening of dining, networking and re-connecting. The highlight of the evening included remarks from the Dean, as he spoke about the exciting things underway at Schulich. Bill Graham (MBA ’86) and Aloma Gravel also delivered remarks and all were treated to a virtual tour of the new Rob and Cheryl McEwen Graduate Study & Research Building by David Bell.

The newly opened Rob and Cheryl McEwen Graduate Study & Research Building was included in this year's Doors Open Toronto event on May 25 & 26. Guests were able to take a guided or self-guided tour of our newest facility, one of the most environmentally sustainable and socially responsible academic buildings in North America. On Sunday, May 26, principal architect, Barry Sampson of Baird Sampson Neuert Architects hosted a fireside chat in the space reflecting on the past and sharing his insights on the future of Toronto’s architectural and design landscape while discussing the inspiration behind the design and development of the McEwen Building.

The BBA Class of 1996 celebrated their 23rd Reunion Anniversary on May 23 at Goose Island Brewhouse. Reminiscing on 23 years since they graduated from Schulich, guests enjoyed an evening of catching up and networking. Thank you to our reunion ambassadors, Fred Cassano, Dora Papadopoulos-De Luca, Enzo Quattrociocchi, Sandra Sciulli, Annie Sismanoglu, and Nina Smith for organizing a great event.

EMBA Alumni and Students gathered for an EMBA Social on May 28 at Four Seasons Toronto. Guests had the chance to reconnect with former classmates and to grow their network by meeting with other KS years.

The BBA/iBBA Class of 1999 celebrated their 20th Reunion Celebration on May 31st at The Walrus Pub & Beer Hall. Reminiscing on 20 years since they graduated from Schulich, guests enjoyed an evening of catching up and networking. Thank you to our reunion ambassador Prem Lobo for his leadership in organizing his class reunion that had more than 36 attending.

Congratulations and au revoir to an outstanding colleague! We wish David Bell all the best as he accepts a new position, closer to home. We will miss David’s leadership, collaborative nature and his strong commitment to our community. We thank him for leading the team as they championed the School’s 16-month 50th Anniversary season and publicly launched Schulich’s highly successful Leading Change Campaign, which is now very close to achieving its $50 million goal. His passionate contribution and dedication will be remembered. He leaves with our sincere gratitude and best wishes.

Giving back is a proud Schulich tradition among our students. The Undergraduate Class of 2019 has created a lasting legacy by dedicating a commemorative bench to celebrate their graduation and honour the memory of classmate Veno Suthesan.
The Graduate Business Council (GBC) executive has established the Caio Melo Borges Milhorati Award to benefit international students who embody GBC’s spirit of service and community, in addition, two new trophy cases to house and honour great achievements by Master’s Level students were donated.
Congratulations and thank you to the Class of 2019 for leaving your mark and inspiring the next generation of Schulich students to pay it forward.
