This is the time to kick off your academic journey at the UofM! Here you will be encouraged by Vice President of Student Academic Success Dr. Karen Weddle-West and Dean of Students Dr. Justin Lawhead to live out your potential, excel academically, and thrive in college.

Volunteer 101 Info Session | 1:45 - 2:45 PM | TBA

Interested in volunteering in the Memphis community? This Volunteer 101 Info session led by the Center for Service Learning and Volunteerism will go over everything you need to know about Volunteer Odyssey, tracking your service hours, and getting involved with the Civic Engagement Board. This session is highly encouraged for students who have the Provost, Deans, or Presidential Scholarship or Emerging Leaders scholarship. 

Scavenger Hunt | 2:00 - 4:00 PM | Various Locations 
Starting at the Bronze Tiger Statue outside of the University Center, students will be placed in teams where they will have 2 hours to complete as many tasks as possible to earn points. The team with the most points at the end will win a prize. Please arrive by 1:45 PM to be placed in a team.

Is this your first year at the UofM? This event is for you! The First year program welcomes all students who are about to enter their first year of college. This includes transfer students! At the First Year Student Picnic, students will have the opportunity to meet faculty and staff members and share a meal with their fellow classmates.

Mighty Sound of the South Preview Show | 5:30 - 7:00 | Memorial Field
Join the Mighty Sound of the South at their 2022 Preview Show for a sneak peek of the upcoming soundtrack for Memphis Tigers Football! The Mighty Sound will take Memorial Field, near the Elma Roane Fieldhouse, Thursday, August 18 at 5:30 PM. These student-musicians will have spent two weeks of intensive rehearsals preparing for an awesome season with new music, new formations and new ways to excite Tiger fans. Your Memphis Tigers kick-off in two weeks, and this performance is sure to get you game day ready. Kona Ice of East Memphis will be onsite bringing flavor and fun to Preview Show while donating 20% of proceeds to the Mighty Sound.

Frosh Frenzy | 4:00 - 8:00 PM | Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium 
All new students are invited to attend Frosh Frenzy . Buses will begin leaving from the Central Lot on the north side of campus starting at 4:30 PM. Additionally, parking will be available for anyone who would like to drive themselves. At Frosh Frenzy students can have dinner from some of Memphis' best food trucks (for free!), hang out with the band, learn some cheers, take their picture with Pouncer and much more

This service project will benefit incoming and retuning students by connecting them to service needs and opportunities around the Memphis community. This service event will help shine a spotlight on service as a powerful force to bridge the economic and social divides within the city of Memphis.
