The Many Ministries of Congregational Care
We are the body of Christ, a congregation that shares one
another’s burdens and rejoices in each other’s joys.

Whether you are in your later years and would welcome visits, are in the hospital, are recovering and would welcome help with rides to PT or medical equipment or meals, are in need of meals while
you experience the demands and joys of a new baby, or have a
request for prayer, whatever your need might be, we are here
to help and support one another.

If you feel called to join one of our fourteen care ministry teams, we would love to have you! In our 2,200-member congregation, the needs are many and growing constantly, and our care responses seek to be broad and deep.
If you have a need, are anticipating a need, or want to serve on a care ministry team, please contact: Emily Coleman – Chair, Congregational Care Steering Committee,

Pastoral staff for Congregational Care: Heidi Hudnut-Beumler, hhudnutbeumler@nashvillewpc.org; 615-481-0666 or Stephanie Boaz, sboaz@nashvillewpc.org;614-578-8130.

In 1972, when workers in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, were digging the foundations for a new development, the last thing they expected to find was a skeleton at the bottom of a well. Who the skeleton was and how it got there were two of the long-held secrets kept by the residents of Chicken Hill, the dilapidated neighborhood where immigrant Jews and African Americans lived side by side and shared ambitions and sorrows.

The Moviegoer, (1961) a classic novel by Walker Percy.
Presenter: Will Wellman, Parish Associate for Adult Education
Author Bio:
"Walker Percy (1916–1990) was one of the most prominent American writers of the twentieth century. Born in Birmingham, Alabama, he was the oldest of three brothers in an established Southern family." Percy was the bestselling author of six fiction titles, including the classic novel The Moviegoer (1961), winner of the National Book Award, and fifteen works of nonfiction. In 2005, Time magazine named The Moviegoer one of the best English-language books published since 1923.
 Book Description:
"Binx Bolling, a young New Orleans stockbroker, fills his days with movies and casual sex.   His life offers him nothing worth retaining, not the kind of personal experiences he knows that other people cherish. Treasurable moments for Binx are dallying with his secretaries and going to movies, which provide him with  'treasurable moments' that he does not find in daily life real life,   About to turn 30, "something changes:  At Mardi Gras, Binx embarks on a quest for authentic experience that has consequences for both himself and his unstable cousin Kate."  His search for authenticity outrages his family and "sends him reeling through the gaudy chaos of the French Quarter."
