Give Your Valentine a Relaxing Foot Soak
Looking for a relaxing gift to give your Valentine or even just for yourself?
A wonderful, easy to make gift are bath salts used for a foot soak. Foot soaks bring relaxation and increase blood flow to the entire body.
For an easy relaxation at home, soak your feet in a basin of warm water and add the following:
  • Epsom salts
  • Baking Soda
  • Essential oils, optional**
  • Marbles, optional
In a large bowl mix 1 part epsom salts to one part baking soda, mixing well.  Put salt mixture into a nice jar adding a label with instructions for use.
Fill a large basin with warm water and add some marbles if you would like. The marbles are quite soothing to rub your feet on when soaking. Pour 1/2 cup of the salts into the warm water. Add a few drops of essential oils for relaxation or aromatherapy.  I like to use lavender and/or rosemary as it is very relaxing.  Peppermint oil is also great as a cooling and calming oil that also contains antimicrobial properties.  Soak for 10-15 minutes, adding more warm water as it cools.
**If packaging as a gift the essential oils can be added directly to the salt mixture, stirring well.
This soak would be a great compliment to a foot massage with your favorite lotion!

Melting Moments Cookies
An easy, melt in your mouth, old fashioned cookie.  My neighbor lived in England for some time, she brought these over one day, yummmm!
Keep in mind this is an English recipe, I put the American substitutions next to the ingredients:)
Ingredients:
  • 225g (8oz) (2 sticks) softened butter
  • 175g (6oz) golden caster sugar (3/4 cup) (Can use granulated sugar)
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • A few drops vanilla essence (1/2t. Vanilla extract)
  • 275g (10oz) self-rising flour (1 cup flour, 1 1/2t. baking powder,
     1/2t. salt)
  • 50g (2oz) porridge oats (Old-fashioned oats)
  • 12 red or natural glace cherries. (Candied cherries)
Method:
  • Preheat the oven to 190C/Fan 170C/ Gas mark 5. (350 degrees) Line 2 large baking trays with baking parchment.
  • Measure the butter, sugar, egg yolks, vanilla extract and flour into a mixing bowl and beat together to form a soft dough.
  • Divide the mixture into about 36 portions. Form each piece into a ball and roll in the oats to cover. Flatten each ball slightly and top each with a quartered glace cherry, if you like. Place onto the baking trays.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes or until golden. Allow to cool slightly on the trays before lifting onto a wire rack to cool.

LOOKING FOR A WAY TO PAMPER YOUR SIGNIFICANT OTHER? TRY GIVING A FOOT MASSAGE!

Foot rubs not only feel good, but they’re also a great way to release tension, boost circulation, and refresh skin after a long day on your feet. Take a few minutes to massage feet at the end of the day. Use an emollient-enriched lotion and take care of moisturizing at the same time! Be careful not to leave any excess lotion in between toes, as it can promote the development of athlete’s foot or a fungal infection.
