Thank you for your support to champion AmeriCorps in Texas! |
In recent weeks, we have witnessed an incredible outpouring of support following the nationwide termination of AmeriCorps programs that provided valuable community services and pathways into public service, including within many Texas communities. While these terminations bring some challenges, we have been encouraged by the many individuals who have stepped forward to share the tangible and meaningful impact of AmeriCorps in Texas.
From writing letters to Congress to sharing personal stories, your voices have made a difference—and we are deeply grateful. We have heard from alumni, nonprofit partners, current members, and community leaders who have all highlighted the profound impact AmeriCorps has had in their lives and communities. Your inspiring stories affirm that AmeriCorps is more than a program—it is a catalyst for change, leadership, and connection in every corner of our state. We are proud to stand with you and continue sharing the message that AmeriCorps Works for Texas. Thank you for your commitment, your action, and your enduring belief in the power of service.
As Congress considers funding for FY2026, we encourage you to continue contacting your members of Congress—even if you’ve already reached out. Online outreach tools have been updated with new messaging focused on ensuring long-term support for AmeriCorps and the communities it serves. Every message counts, and your voice matters now more than ever!

| Crabapple Fire Relief Fund facilitates rapid local response to disaster |
When the Crabapple wildfires swept through over 9,500 acres in Gillespie County in March, our Rebuild Texas Fund was ready to respond to the outpouring of support from generous Texans. Together, we raised $118,565 through the Crabapple Fire Relief Fund, and we partnered with the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country in April to ensure every dollar supports locally guided recovery. Thanks to additional community fundraising, a total of $146,164 is now being distributed based on input from local leaders who know their neighbors best. This effort is a powerful reminder that when Texans come together, we can help communities rebuild stronger than ever.

Because of AmeriCorps, members serve across Texas each year, helping students succeed, expanding access to health care, responding to disasters, and addressing food insecurity. Your leadership, whether through the PATHS to Tutor Act, the CORPS Act, or your unwavering support for AmeriCorps funding, ensures that these critical programs continue to make a difference. Nonprofits face increasingly challenging times, being asked to do more than ever. The demand for services delivered by volunteers is soaring. However, the systems that make volunteering possible are under-resourced and overstrained. Volunteers don’t just lend a hand; they build stronger communities. Individuals who volunteer are also more likely to vote, join civic organizations, donate and stay engaged. This report sheds new light on the essential role volunteers play in nonprofit and social sector success, as well as the urgent need for greater investment in volunteer engagement and infrastructure.
