New visitor policy
New visitor policy
Friday, Sept. 25, 2020
Today marks the milestone of Bryant’s first full month of students back in classes with a residential experience on campus.
Early on, Bryant adopted an aggressive testing and contact tracing strategy that includes rapid-response weekly testing for all students, faculty and staff. This strategy is working. Our campus, with a single point of entry, has allowed us to create a safe environment for learning. Recent changes to the visitor policy are designed to allow us to finish the semester as we began on August 25. Plans for winter session and spring build on what is proving to be effective.
This fall looks a little different, but Bryant’s pandemic response is among the most successful in the country. Let’s Be Bryant Strong and keep it going!
Calendar for Winter Session and Spring announced
Bryant’s academic calendar has been updated with new information for the two winter sessions, Dec. 3-22 and Jan. 4-22, and spring 2021 term. The modified schedule gives students the chance to accelerate degree completion and expand learning interests. Winter classes will be fully remote and at reduced tuition; spring classes will refine the hybrid on site/online model in place this fall.
Save the Date: Saturday, Oct. 3
While we can’t celebrate Bryant’s annual Reunion@Homecoming with football this year, next weekend students will still have something special at the Beirne Stadium Complex. Our new scoreboard provides the chance for a socially distanced Movie Night Under the Lights, and food trucks will be on hand for complimentary refreshments. More details coming soon.
New Visitor Policy
We have come too far to jeopardize our semester together now. Based on new information and our very strong commitment to do everything in our control to keep the entire community safe, Bryant has adjusted its policy for weekend visitors.
The data shows that our COVID-19 cases originate off campus and most frequently with students. Our commuter students have been very cooperative and the positivity rate for commuter students is no higher than for residential students. At this time we will no longer permit anyone beyond our own students, faculty, staff, close family members and guardians of students making a pick-up or drop off, registered guests of the Admission office, delivery personnel including food deliveries, and supervised vendors to be on campus from 5 p.m. Friday through 7 a.m. on Monday. UBER drivers will be limited to essential trips.
DOWNLOAD THE HEALTH CHECKER APP
Health Checker app
If you’re ever having trouble accessing the Health Checker app on your phone, remember you can always go to the web page and complete the form and print your access results (either a green check or a yellow X). Evidence of daily symptom screening is an important part of Bryant’s layered approach to campus safety, so you won’t be able to enter campus or access dining services and other areas without it. Please carry a printed copy of your Health Checker app results with you if you know your phone is not working or likely to run out of battery charge.
Parent discussions with Bryant Leadership
To help keep parents informed, Bryant is hosting a series of Zoom panel discussions with President Ross Gittell, Provost Glenn Sulmasy, Vice President for Student Affairs Inge-Lise Ameer, and Vice President for Enrollment Management Michelle Cloutier. The last panel in the series is Monday, Sept. 28, at 3 p.m. Please register in advance for the Zoom link.
