Anchored in Our Values Learning Series
As a new student, you are required to complete the Anchored in Our Values Learning Series to assist with making informed choices regarding your health and safety, as well as the health and safety of other students and the larger Vanderbilt community. Information regarding these modules has been sent from @safecolleges.com with the subject line “Mandatory: Anchored in Our Values Learning Series.” The modules will need to be completed by the deadlines issued in the email.

Experience Vanderbilt
Experience Vanderbilt (EV) is a student-led, university-supported initiative that provides undergraduate students who qualify for need-based financial aid with funding for extracurricular activities that have fees. Applications will be available online in August. Stay updated with EV on Instagram.

International Student Orientation:
International Student Orientation (ISO) welcomes new international students to Vanderbilt prior to the start of CommonVU Orientation. Beginning on International Move-In Day, August 19, first-year international students are required to participate in a series of sessions designed to support your transition to college and the U.S. ISO will also offer you a chance to settle in and meet new people before the rest of the class arrives. At the conclusion of ISO, you will join your peers and participate in CommonVU Orientation. The 2026 schedule is now available online.

International Student Orientation for U.S. Citizens Living Abroad:
Domestic students living abroad are invited to participate in International Student Orientation (ISO). If you would like to join ISO and have not already indicated this, please email commons@vanderbilt.edu by July 15. ISO participants may also request free airport transportation and pre-purchase a $55 linen package.
Students not participating in ISO will move in with their peers on August 22—no further action is needed. The ISO schedule is available at vu.edu/international-student-orientation.

CommonVU Orientation
CommonVU Orientation is the required weeklong orientation to The Ingram Commons and Vanderbilt that begins on Move-In Day on August 22. During CommonVU Orientation, you will begin to experience the university by building new communities and engaging in activities with other first-year students. You will also interact with upper-division students, faculty and staff. Together, you will begin to discover the personal, academic, intellectual and social opportunities of life at Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt Visions
Vanderbilt Visions is a required six-week program designed to aid in your transition to college. All first-year students are automatically assigned to a Visions group of 18-20 new students. Visions groups are guided by a faculty mentor and an upper-division student (called VUceptors). Through weekly meetings, you and your group will focus on navigating the transition to college, building community, connecting to campus resources and cultivating intellectual curiosity.

ISSS SEVIS Check-In Info
After arrival to the U.S. and to Vanderbilt, all incoming international students entering with an Initial or Transfer Pending I-20 or DS-2019 must complete a mandatory SEVIS Check-in. The check-in process is virtual and collects copies of your F-1 or J-1 status documents and the information ISSS needs to report your arrival in SEVIS. You must also complete the SEVIS check-in process prior to completing your I-9 (for on-campus employment), or before applying for a Social Security Number (SSN), driver’s license or state ID card. Shipping Packages for Move-In
Mail Services processes all incoming mail and packages for students during Move-In Weekend. Please make every effort to combine items for shipping to campus to limit excessive amounts of packages.
Mail Services will be placing some packages directly into student rooms prior to International Move-In Day on August 19. Please do not ship packages prior to August 5.
To be considered for placement in your room, packages must arrive August 6-13. Packages received after August 13 and up to August 20 will be available for pickup at your assigned Mail Services tent on The Ingram Commons on August 22, from 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. Packages received after August 20 will be available for pick up at the Station B Post Office in Rand Hall or the temporary pickup location at the Student Life Center garage on August 21, August 22 or August 23. Please see your package notification for the pickup location.
Please check each package carefully inside your room. If you receive a package that does not belong to you, please bring it to one of the Mail Services tents as soon as possible. More details about shipping packages can be found online.
