One Smart Kitty: Stoop the Survivor

It takes a kitten with the right attitude to go from surviving the hot cornfields of Indiana to winning the heart of a kind young man who happened upon her while on a walk. Little Stoop was found with three other kittens and no mother in sight when John and his girlfriend at the time discovered the litter under the sweltering sun.

They rescued the kittens, found homes for two and kept Stoop and Kiki. Stoopid wasn’t originally her name, but John’s former girlfriend said, “Come here, Stoopid!” during feeding time and the name stuck.

We need $1000 immediately to fund requests on-hand!

In February, we received 268 requests totaling just shy of $795,000 in requested funds. So far in March, we have received 140 requests totaling roughly $495,000 in requested funds. 

Based on Chart 1, we have been able to assist 132 families with our Education Program this year. Chart 2 demonstrates that we have funded 9 families directly with four active applications in process. 

In February, we offered 12 Initial Vet Visit Approval Letters, but only four families took advantage of them. We're learning that some Clinics, especially Specialty and Emergency Clinics, are hesitant to accept the Approval Letter expecting payment at the time of services instead.  

In March so far, we have offered 5 Initial Vet Visit Approval Letters. One family has taken advantage with one expected to use their letter this week. 

At this exact moment, we need $1,000 in funds immediately available to cover all requests in our queue.

The process of grieving is one of the most powerful and challenging experiences one goes through in life. When someone you care about loses a beloved pet, it can be difficult to know how to help them grieve and honor their pet at the same time. Brown Dog Foundation recognizes the importance of this entire process and has developed a plan that helps you honor a pet who has passed while at the same time, saves the lives of other families’ pet who are struggling with medical issues. 

Memorial Website Tiles can be secured for a donation of $25 or more. Tiles may contain as little as the pet's name and passing date to as much as a brief bio of their life.

And, if you are a business who serves the animal community (vet clinic, groomer, bakery, pet sitter, etc), ask us about our Memorial Sympathy Card Program! With this program, you receive your own webpage where we post individual Memorial Tiles and custom-made Sympathy Cards to mail to each recipient letting them know a gift was made in their pet's memory.
