Uniting Our Latino and Native American Community Resource Groups
Thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday evening at the Owen Jones office for a Community Resource Group (CRG) event that brought together our Latino and Native American groups. We hope you all got the opportunity to learn from each other, learn about the great efforts and opportunities taking place in our community, or simply practice your networking skills. We really appreciate everyone's willingness to share personal stories and build connection. Our CRG events are all about creating safe spaces where professionals of color can meet others, build community, and discuss issues relevant to their specific communities. We look forward to seeing you all again in December for our next CRG event. Stay tuned for registration details.
A special thank you to Owen Jones & Partners for sponsoring the gathering and creating such a welcoming environment for our attendees.

The Importance of Prioritizing Psychological Safety in our Teams
During our October Breakfast for Champions session, we explored cultivating psychologically safe teams. Leading the charge was Waleed Sadruddin, a diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) consultant, who kicked off the lesson with a powerful opening statement, “There is no value in having diversity, if those diverse individuals don’t have the ability or feel safe to contribute to the organization.” Many organizations pursue their DEI objectives through metrics tied to the number of diverse candidate hires and DEI-focused trainings, and important, this can only offer temporary organizational changes. The real transformation happens when every member of the team feels a sense of belonging, can safely express their opinions, and feels their skills add value to the team, creating lasting change and nurturing psychologically safe teams.

Happy November,
The Partners in Diversity team and leadership council will be gathering this month to develop a strategic plan for the upcoming year. We have a lot of new ideas to continue furthering our mission. We're excited to work alongside our leadership council and share some of our strategic priorities and initiatives in December.
I want to acknowledge and thank our member organizations for your continued commitment to developing and empowering a racially diverse workforce. Despite some troubling national trends, it is obvious that our region has hundreds of employers who are committed to creating and maintaining welcoming and inclusive workplaces. I’m incredibly grateful as a woman of color and as a parent to be surrounded by supportive community members and like-minded professionals. I look forward to keeping you updated on our latest work and creating opportunities for professionals of color to thrive and connect.
