Lost and Found Team Locates the Key to Stellar Customer Services
Doreen Champaco (she/her), Carrie Countryman (she/her) and Sam Fetters (he/him) with the Port of Portland's Lost & Found office were nominated by Eliza, PDX traveler:
"I can't believe what an excellent team you have! The foundation of my professional experience was customer service, and it is a dying art of kindness. Sam went above and beyond my expectations. He was available to circle back with me regarding my issue. Doreen provided incredible support as well. Lastly, Carrie emailed me with personal discretionary care and was willing to mail me my placard with my permission. I have called a few times to express my sincere gratitude. I am shouting from the rooftops on the East Coast: Thank you!"

The new PDX opens August 14
As an insider, you’ve known the opening date for the new main terminal was Wednesday, Aug. 14, since we shared it in May. On Tuesday, the rest of the region found out the big news with an announcement on social media and lots of media coverage. Here are a few of our favorite write-ups:

Guess Who’s Coming to PDX?!
In the coming weeks, we’re sharing some short video intros to the 12 local shops coming to the new main terminal. Guess who’s returning to PDX with a whole new look and feel? Since the early 2000s, they’ve been your go-to for all-day mimosas. Now, they’re reimagining their space to bring you a cozy French wine bar experience right here at PDX! Featuring the best of Oregon’s culinary and wine scene, their new space will be all about shared plates, good vibes and even better wine. It’s Capers – returning with a fresh new twist. Get ready to raise a glass to new beginnings!

PDX in Pictures
This short video update takes you inside the terminal where hundreds of local craftspeople are hard at work on the final checklist: ticket counters and art installations are in, local concessions are near complete, and plants are taking root.
Watch now to see a few of the 72 live trees that will recreate a “walk in the forest” at the airport. By the end of Phase 2 construction – which starts on Aug. 15 and is scheduled to wrap up in Winter 2025/2026 – there will be more than 5,000 plants inside PDX.
Why bring the outdoors in? In the words of J.P. Paull, a principle at PLACE (the local landscape architects behind PDX’s biophilic design): “We wanted to evoke Pacific Northwest landscapes so it felt like you arrived before you left the airport. And we were very intentional about the placement of the plants. We worked together to identify the primary stress zones as people go through an airport – like ticketing and security – and that's where we focused on creating immersive, forest-like scenes.”
