NSF Revised Policies and Procedures Guide (PAPPG) for use in 2020

The National Science Foundation is currently working to finalize a revised Proposal and Award Policies and Procedures Guide (PAPPG) for use in 2020. It's anticipated that the revised PAPPG will be released in the coming months and, as is standard practice, will be effective 90 days after its release.

Below are highlights of some important information to assist the community in preparing for this new PAPPG as it relates to the preparation and submission of the Biographical Sketch and Current and Pending Support sections of NSF proposals that fall under this revised PAPPG.

NSF is partnering with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to use SciENcv: Science Experts Network Curriculum Vitae as an NSF-approved format for use in preparation of both the Biographical Sketch and Current and Pending Support sections of an NSF proposal.
Use of an NSF-approved format for the Biographical Sketch and Current and Pending Support documents will be required upon implementation of the PAPPG. NSF is encouraging proposers to begin using SciENcv for preparation of the Biographical Sketch now.
SciENcv allows proposers to integrate their ORCiD to enable pre-population for the Biographical Sketch. Additional information is available on the ORCiD website.
SciENcv will produce NSF-compliant PDF versions of these documents. Proposers must save these documents and submit them as part of their proposals via FastLane, Research.gov or Grants.gov.

NSF will continue to communicate with the community regarding the 2020 PAPPG and will provide further notice to the community as soon as the revised PAPPG is released.

2020 L’Oréal USA For Women in Science Fellowship Program for Postdoctoral Scholars

Applications for the 2020 L’Oréal USA For Women in Science program are now open and will close on Friday, January 31, 2020.

The L’Oréal USA For Women in Science fellowship program honors female scientists at a critical stage in their careers with grants of $60,000 each. Candidates are selected from a variety of fields including the life and physical/material sciences, technology (including computer science), engineering, and mathematics. Candidates must have completed their PhD and have started in their postdoctoral position by the application deadline. Applications close February 1, 2019

UC MEXUS-CONACYT Grants and Postdocs 2020 - Calls Available

The 2020 Calls for Proposals for the following programs are now available on the UC MEXUS website:

UC MEXUS - CONACYT Collaborative Projects: This program provides seed funding to teams of UC and Mexican researchers with beginning projects in basic and applied collaborative research, instructional development, and public service and education projects that apply research to public issues. The primary objective of the program is to enable the establishment of new collaborative initiatives with the potential for creating permanent ties between UC campuses and Mexican institutions that will grow and continue with the support of other institutional and extramural funds.

UC MEXUS - CONACYT Postdoctoral Research Fellowships: The primary objective of this program is to advance academic scholarship by emerging Mexican researchers and UC scientists and scholars in the early stages of their careers, after obtaining their doctorate. In addition, the program seeks to support existing or developing binational academic networks by enhancing collaborative research projects between UC and Mexican faculty and institutions through the innovative involvement and training of new researchers.

DRAFT NIH Policy for Data Management and Sharing - request for comments

Response Deadline: January 10, 2019

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is seeking public comments on a DRAFT NIH Policy for Data Management and Sharing and supplemental DRAFT guidance. This Draft follows up on NIH’s Proposed Provisions for a Draft Data Management and Sharing Policy for NIH Funded or Supported Research (NOT-OD-19-014) issued in October 2018, both of which promote data sharing of research results from projects NIH funds and conducts. Complete information about the Draft Policy and draft supplemental guidance can be found on the NIH OSP website.
