Chicago Bears Unveil Potential Plans

for Development in Arlington Heights

In an open letter, the Chicago Bears unveiled the possible plans for a major mixed-use 326-acre entertainment district anchored by a new domed stadium in Arlington Heights.

The Bears announced that they will not be seeking public funds for the development of the stadium, but would most likely require public funding for the remainder of the massive undertaking.

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot commented that Chicago would “keep fighting that fight as long as we possibly can” and that “we’ve got plan B, plan C and others in the works as well if the Bears decide that they’re going to abandon the city of Chicago.”

Community meetings in Arlington Heights will begin Thursday, September 8th.

Ground breaking Ceremony for Auburn Gresham Apartments
Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, Alderman David Moore (17th), Deputy Mayor Samir Mayekar, DPD Commissioner Maurice Cox and several other local leaders participated in the ground breaking for the INVEST South/West project in Auburn Gresham.
The event took place August 24th, included many local residents, business owners, and community leaders, and was the first INVEST South/West project to begin construction.  The initial one-site project expanded to two parcels, roughly one block apart, after significant community engagement activities and participation in planning.
Congratulations to the entire development team:  Evergreen Real Estate Group, Imagine Development, Ross Barney Architects, Nia Architects and GMA Construction.
Special thanks to the CCAC team that developed the original RFP:  Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, Fifield Companies, Callison RTKL, Level-1 Global Solutions, and Praedium Valuation Group.
Additional INVEST South/West ground breakings are expected approximately one per month through the end of the year.
