At 3:00 p.m., Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church transforms into a hub of fun as 40 or so K-5 scholars arrive to the Youth Transformed for Life (YTL) afterschool program.
Meet Roberta, a veteran volunteer celebrating success with her first grade scholar (she's learning the high-frequency words important for young readers!), and Caroline, a high school intern who remembers her own struggle with reading and is now living a "full-circle moment" by tutoring for Literacy Together (her uncle was previously enrolled in our ESOL program).
From navigating tricky English rules to helping scholars find books that reflect their own lives, our afterschool tutors ensure no child has to tackle reading alone. 🩷
