We are quickly approaching the First Day of School on Monday, August 8! In preparation, please thoroughly read the following Virtual School email for important updates. MNPS Virtual School's primary source of communication is email, so be sure to monitor your email for updates.
Note: Once the school year starts, Virtual School emails will only be sent to student MNPS email accounts and guardians. Personal email addresses of students will no longer be used.

Mandatory Student Launch
All students, new and returning, are required to attend the Virtual School student launch on Monday, August 8, from 9:00AM to 11:00AM via Microsoft Teams. Attendance will be taken for truancy reporting purposes. Click here to review the agenda.

Online Orientation Course
In addition to attending the mandatory Student Launch, all students, new and returning, are required to complete the MNPS Virtual School Online Orientation Course. The course is now accessible via Schoology!
Failure to complete the online orientation course by 11:59PM Friday, August 12, 2022 will result in automatic withdrawal from MNPS Virtual School.
To access the online Student Orientation Course, follow the instructions below.
- Log into Office 365 at https://login.microsoftonline.com/
- Enter your MNPS email address. If you do not know it, you should enter your first name, the first letter of your last name, the last 5 digits of your student ID number, and finally @mnpsk12.org. For example, if your name is Sarah Jones and ID number is 190012345 your email address would be (sarahj12345@mnpsk12.org).
- Your initial password will be the first letter of your first name (uppercase), the first letter of your last name (lowercase), two digits of your birth month, two digits of your birth day, and finally two digits of your birth year. For example, if the sample student above had a birthday of December 2, 2005, her password would be (Sj120205).
- Once logged in, please go to mnps.schoology.org or access Schoology by clicking HERE.
- Once inside Schoology, click “Courses.”
- Then click “My courses” on the right-hand side.
- Next click “MNPS Virtual School Student Orientation-Fall 2022 Full-time Students.”

Mandatory In-Person Universal Screening: Grades 4-9
Required in-person MTSS Universal Screening Testing will be administered to students in Grades 4 through 9 at MNPS Virtual School from Monday, August 15, 2022 through Friday, August 19, 2022. Students will be scheduled by grade levels as shown in the table below.
Students are expected to arrive by 7:45 AM. Testing will begin at 8:00 AM and conclude at 11:30 AM.
MNPS Virtual School is located on the third (3rd) floor of the Cohn Learning Center: 4805 Park Avenue, Nashville, TN 37209.

All students are required to report in person for the mandatory FastBridge test. We are aware of the rise in COVID-19 cases and are taking precautions to ensure your student is safe. Masks are not required but are highly encouraged to be worn during testing. We will have masks available for students who request a mask.
Additional Safety Measures
- Masks are not required but are highly encouraged. They will be available upon request.
- Testing rooms will be sanitized between sessions.
- Students should enter the building through the side of the building under the blue awning on 49th Avenue and report to the third floor outside VS Suite 300.
- Anyone with a temperature above 99.9 degrees Fahrenheit, or who exhibits symptoms of illness, should not report for testing.
- Hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes will be available throughout the building.
- Social distancing will be enforced.
- No hugs, fist bumps, or handshakes will take place throughout the day.
Students who report for and complete their FastBridge Testing will receive 3,000 v-Bucks to use in the VS Online Store!

Laptop Deployment
MNPS Virtual School deployed student laptops on Thursday, August 4, or Friday, August 5, from 8:00AM - 12:00PM (CDT).
Contact Ms. Emma Risley if you are in need of a laptop.
Students who kept their MNPS issued device over the summer, must exchange their device as important required software updates were installed over the summer.

Course Schedules
Students in grades 6-12 will gain access to their courses on Tuesday, August 9. Students may begin working in the online orientation course on Monday, August 8. All students, grades 4 through 12, will access all course material and assignments via Schoology. More information will be shared at the Student Launch.
Grades 4-5 Students in grades 4 through 5 receive live direct synchronous instruction daily via Microsoft Teams, and attendance is taken for truancy reporting purposes. The following is the daily schedule for grades 4 through 5:

VS Help Desk
Virtual School students and families may receive assistance by submitting a help ticket via the Virtual School website.
Help tickets are automatically sent to the appropriate team member(s) for resolution.
Due to high call volumes, help tickets ensure a timely response to all communications.
Students must use their district-issued mnpsk12.org email address when communicating with MNPS Virtual School.
