Awaken your creativity on this enchanting 10-day art escape brought to you by renowned Canadian pastel artist Margaret Ferraro in partnership with Rainforest Reef Escape. We have put together an exciting art adventure that will take you from the serene seascape town of Cascais to the bustling streets of Lisbon, Portugal’s beautiful capital city.
PAINT PORTUGAL Together we will explore a few impressive areas in the country, spending the majority of our time painting in Cascais, a delightful Portuguese fishing town and Lisbon’s most popular holiday destination. Here you will find inspiration in everything from boundless ocean cliffs to colourful marinas, and impressive vistas all around. From here we will visit Sintra, a magical place peppered with ornate mansions and majestic woodlands. It’s hard to imagine a more fairytale-like place than this. Located only an hour west of Lisbon, the kings playground is a fascinating study in creative architectural styles. We end our painting adventure with a few fun days in Lisbon, home to countless museums, churches and narrow streets that lead to small art galleries, cafés and shops that sell delicious pastries like the famous Pastéis de Nata (custard tarts). Lisbon’s vibrancy and charm will quickly show you why its regularly voted one of the most interesting cities in the world. So be prepared to blend art, history, food and lots of port wine on this captivating and creative artistic journey!
YOUR ACCOMMODATION AND FOOD
You will be staying in a two lovely hotels during your time with us in Portugal. The first is Hotel Baía, a beautiful beachfront property with stunning views of the ocean and surrounding city. It features comfortable rooms, a lovely restaurant and a private studio room reserved just for us and our art supplies. The next stop will be Hotel Tesouro Da Baxia, a boutique guesthouse considered a real treasure at the historic center of Lisbon. From here you can explore the many exciting corners of the city.
As for the Portuguese table, freshly baked bread, olives, cheese, red wine or crisp vinho verde (young wine), chargrilled fish, cataplana (seafood stew), smoked meats, the Portuguese have perfected the art of cooking simple, delicious meals. Sitting down to table means experiencing the richness of Portugal’s bountiful coastline and fertile countryside.
