A Restful 2021 

What if we made this year the year of rest? After 2020, we certainly deserve it. To support you this semester, we are focusing on intentional rest with our new Press Pause campaign. Each month, we will highlight a different way to relax and refresh in meaningful ways: resting, unplugging, sleeping, and finding balance.

Taking time to rest improves all areas of wellness, but unfortunately it’s often overlooked. Expectations of work, school, and life can make resting seem impossible or unimportant. Let’s change that this year by making rest a priority! By taking breaks often, we are not failing, we are recharging our bodies and our minds. We encourage you to rest, relax, and refresh by Pressing Pause.

Follow us all semester as we share tips in our blog, give away restful goodies via Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, and hopefully, inspire GVSU to take more breaks.

WHAT'S NEW? 

Fitness

  • It’s time for kickoff month: Jan 4-22! Try Group Ex for FREE, or tune in for virtual  Small Group Training, Personal Training, and UFIT to get moving with us!
  • Students: Group Ex and Small Group Training are FREE this semester, and classes begin Jan 25. Visit Mindbody for our fitness schedule, and RSVP to hold your spot!  
  • Check out Rec Center hours for this semester!

Outdoor Adventures

  • Registration is required for open climbing this semester, and the Climbing Center will open on Jan 18! 
  • We have new ideas for how to better support your outdoor desires at GVSU, and we want your input. Register for a virtual info session on Jan 26 to share your ideas and provide feedback!

Student Wellness

  • Feel like you’ve been stuck indoors for too long? Spend some time outside; there are plenty of things to do in the winter to feel refreshed.
  • New year, new learning opportunities about sexual health! WIT peer educators will be creating The Sex Ed Series, a new weekly blog feature every Wednesday this semester.

TREK100 Challenge 

  • January 1 - February 26
  • 100 miles. 8 weeks. Can you do it?
  • Track mileage on our online dashboard, and use the leader board for motivation. 
  • Open to students, faculty, and staff. 
  • Registration required and open until Jan 29.

Press Pause 

  • January 1 - April 30 
  • A campaign that invites you to rest, relax, and refresh. We'll focus on a different topic each month this semester: rest, unplugging, sleep, and balance. 
  • This month: REST. Rest is not something that we can ignore; it's something that’s necessary for us to live well. Join us at our blog to find out how to be better at doing nothing.
