Marion Ball, a University of Texas at Arlington health informatics expert, has received the
John P. Glaser Health Informatics Innovator Award for her leadership in the field.
Ball’s name has become synonymous with health informatics thanks to her more than 350 journal articles, 40 books and numerous other publications. In addition, she has served with numerous boards and organizations, including as president of the International Medical Informatics Association and member of the National Academy of Medicine. She has also previously been recognized as one of the Most Influential Women in Health IT by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society. Read more.

| Congratulations to Dr. Erin Carlson!
The Texas IPE Consortium recognized her service to the Texas IPE Consortium and celebrated her breadth of achievement and unwavering dedication to interprofessional education (IPE) by awarding her with a Texas IPE Consortium Distinguished Fellow Award.
The Texas IPE Consortium Distinguished Fellows program honors outstanding individuals with significant service and leadership within the consortium and who have made exceptional contributions to the field of IPE across the State of Texas and beyond. The Board of Directors unanimously voted to induct Dr. Carlson into the 2023 Class of Texas IPE Consortium Distinguished Fellows and honored her at the Annual Meeting on April 20, 2023, in Houston, Texas.

Jennifer Roye, the Assistant Dean for Simulation and Technology at The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) College of Nursing and Health Innovation, is a two-time Academic Partnerships grant recipient.
Her research, "Integration of Telehealth/Telemedicine Training into a Family Nurse Practitioner Program" and "Creating a Virtual Clinical Experience to Increase Empathy Among Undergraduate Nursing Students" explore the innovative use of simulation in accelerated, online nursing programs.

At the Doswell Informatics May 2023 conference, Dr. Mari Tietze and Dr. Patricia Thomas presented: Nurse Well-being, Curriculum-based EHR Education, and the New Essentials
of Practice.
This observational study aims to initiate two evaluation approaches to assess experiential learning activity using an aEHR. Targeted participants are in four courses: two graduate nursing practitioner practicums, one graduate nurse educator practicum, and one health informatics didactic-focused.

Dr. Laura Phipps and Dr. Mari Tietze (via virtual) lectured to the students in Germany, Osnabruick University, with fellow lecturers Tiina Haukkakallio (from Finland), Pedro Marques (Portugal) and Ursua Hübner (Germany).
Learning to do research for a modern healthcare system: the CarLa Talent Academy Health & Living offers an international Spring School 2023 in Osnabrück. With the international Spring School "Information in Healthcare: From Data to Knowledge", the Caprivi Campus received an international flair during the block week from May 8th to 12th, 2023. The Spring School was organized as part of the CarLa young talent development project and the university-wide FuturSkills project.

UTA, in collaboration with TCU and Baylor University, offered a perioperative clinical experience during the Maymester aimed to increase interest in perioperative nursing roles that are experiencing shortages. Ten students (including 5 from UTA) came together for a simulation day in preparation for starting clinical rotations.

Highlighting Public Health Week
|
UTA celebrated 2023 National Public Health Week with educational in-person events for students and professionals. The NPHW is recognized by public health professionals across the U.S. as a time to focus on promoting health and improving health outcomes. This year's theme was "Centering and Celebrating Cultures in Health."
