Dear Student,
I’m writing to update my earlier message regarding a Gathering of Support for Madie Nicpon, her family, and her many friends. Hosted by the University Chaplaincy, we will come together as a community at the Gantcher Center from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. This will be a time to reflect and pray in community; to comfort one another in our shock and grief; to write cards of care for Madie’s family and friends; and to light candles in solidarity with Madie and all her loved ones. Everyone in attendance is invited to walk together to Bello Field, which is the home of the Women's Lacrosse Team, for further reflection.
In addition to gathering together at 6 p.m. or in your own small groups, I want to make sure you’re aware that our support services are available, and I encourage you to reach out if you need assistance during this very difficult time. The University Chaplaincy, Counseling and Mental Health (CMHS), and Dean of Student Affairs Office are all available to support you. CMHS counseling staff are available for walk in appointments today between 4:00 p.m. and 5:45 p.m.; will be at the 6:00 p.m. gathering and available afterwards; and will have drop in appointments all week between noon and 1:00 p.m. daily. If you or someone you know needs more immediate support, please reach out to either the Counselor-on-Call or the Dean-on-Call 24/7 by calling our after hours message center at 617-627-3360.
When we have additional information, we will share it with the community. Until then, we ask you to keep Madie and her family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.
With a heavy heart,
Camille Lizarríbar, JD, PhD
Dean of Student Affairs and Chief Student Affairs Officer for AS&E
