The Southern Pines Parks & Recreation Department is looking for both Athletic Interns and Parks and Rec Interns. Southern Pines has designed a 12-week internship program that provides students with a well-rounded experience which introduces the intern to all aspects of a diverse and comprehensive Parks & Recreation program. This provides the students with an opportunity to put what they have learned to work. It is a “hands-on” experience that reflects what park and recreation professionals do on the job to ensure the necessary and enhanced services to the community.

US Forest Service Full-time Volunteer Wilderness Ranger Application
DESIRED START DATE: MAY 22, 2023

Volunteer Backcountry Enchantments Ranger on the Wenatchee River Ranger District of the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest (located in Leavenworth, WA): Our Volunteers work alongside our experienced Wilderness Rangers and with other volunteers in a full-time capacity (40 hours a week) and commit to an entire summer season (with some flexibility). After a few weeks of training/orientations, we will work a schedule of four 10-hour days, Thursday through Sunday.

NC 4-H Camps 2023 Summer Camp Employment Opportunities:

Our North Carolina 4-H Camps & Centers are now hiring for our 2023 summer camp season. For summer camp cabin counselors and activity instructors, compensation begins at $300/week for new staff, plus room and board during the camp week. Returning staff are paid additional amounts based on tenure. Specialized positions, such as our new Temporary Youth Mental Health Professional, pay even more.

We are especially seeking lifeguards and Trekker staff for our Betsy-Jeff Penn 4-H Educational Center who run offsite canoeing trips on the Dan River and rock climbing at Pilot Mountain.

We are also strongly in need of a Waterfront Coordinator at our Eastern 4-H Center. We are seeking an individual with previous lifeguarding and leadership experience that would manage both our inground pool and waterfront activities, including canoeing, kayaking, and stand up paddle boarding.

NC State Athletics needs volunteers! Below is the sign-up sheet for NC State’s annual track meet, Raleigh Relays.

Students would be assisting with the track events (located at Paul Derr Track on campus) and all volunteers are provided a t-shirt and boxed meal for their help.

The North Carolina Recreation & Parks Scholarship Foundation (NCRPSF) provides scholarships to assist undergraduate students interested in pursuing careers in public parks and recreation. Scholarships are granted per academic year and typically range from $1000 to $3,000. The eligibility criteria are included in the application form linked below. The Foundation will accept scholarship applications for the upcoming school year from students who meet the requirements and submit all required information by midnight on April 1st.
