Among CSU’s 24 unique accolades, the Levin College of Public Affairs and Education specialty public affairs graduate programs in Urban Policy and Local Government Management ranked #3 and #12, respectively, in the nation, along with landing in the number one spot in Ohio.

New Dean of the Monte Ahuja College of Business Announced
|
CSU has named Melissa L. Gruys, Ph.D., SPHR, SHRM-SCP as the new Dean of the Monte Ahuja College of Business. Dr. Gruys previously served as the Dean and a Professor of Management in the Doermer School of Business at Purdue University Fort Wayne.

Crain’s Cleveland Business 30 Notables in Education Leadership recognize educators and administrators dedicated to teaching, learning, researching, and studying. Two accomplished administrators from the Monte Ahuja College of Business were recently honored by Crain’s Dr. Heidi Hylton Meier and Senior Assistant Dean of Academic Programs and Student Affairs, Anne Nelson.

CSU, W.E. Upjohn Institute Teaming Up on East Palestine Train Derailment Research
|
Researchers with the Center for Economic Development at CSU, in partnership with the W.E. Upjohn Institute for Employment Research, have teamed up to collaborate on an ongoing effort to track the economic consequences of the Norfolk Southern trail derailment in East Palestine on February 3.

Human Resources encourages both administrative faculty (who earn vacation time) and staff to take their accrued vacation time to focus on and help improve their physical and mental well-being.
Administrative faculty and staff may carry over 240 hours of vacation from one fiscal year to the next. Fiscal Year 2023 ends on June 30.
Employees who are paid biweekly will need to take vacation days prior to June 17 for them to count toward Fiscal Year 2023.
Employees who are paid semi-monthly will need to take vacation days prior to June 30 for them to count toward Fiscal Year 2023.
Vacation time must be scheduled in advance and requires supervisor approval.
Leave balances, accrued vacation time, sick time and comp time balances can be viewed on your paystub by logging onto the Employee Self-Service website. Please direct any questions to your respective Human Resources Business Partner:

Valedictorian Kelly Green Honored at Morning Commencement Ceremonies
|
Summa Cum Laude Kelly Green (College of Health) was named as the AM Valedictorian as part of the Spring Commencement ceremonies. Green, who battled health issues and alcohol addiction, pulled through with the help of doctors and enrollment into a 12-step fellowship program.

Valedictorian Lindsey Shrodek Honored at Afternoon Commencement Ceremonies
|
Summa Cum Laude Lindsey Shrodek (Jack, Joseph, and Mandel Honors College) was named as the PM Valedictorian as part of the Spring Commencement ceremonies. Shrodek, who majored in economics and philosophy (pre-law), shifted her focus to senior research and submitted a paper, where she was approved for publication in the journal’s Spring 2023 edition.

CSU Graduate Assistant Making Her Mark

Eliseiana Soto Rodriguez – who often goes by simply “E” - is a graduate assistant for the Executive MBA program who started her own business called, Do It With Ease, a lifestyle blog/coaching business that aids Hispanic Businesses. Rodriguez, who will graduate in Summer 2023, applied for a received a Weston Ideation Lab Microgrant to help her further develop her YouTube Channel.

The Power of Philanthropy Shines Bright

Over 400 CSU donors, supporters, and friends packed the university’s Glasscock Family Foundation Ballroom on May 11 to celebrate the power of philanthropy during the 12th annual Radiance event. Radiance, which was launched in 2011, has maintained its goal of supporting juniors and seniors at CSU who excel academically, but face financial challenges that threaten their continued enrollment.

In-Person Courageous Conversation Centered Around Juneteenth – “The Cookout”

The next courageous conversation will occur in person on Friday, June 16, from 10 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. in the Student Center, rooms 313-315. CSU partners and community members will engage in a dialogue focusing on financial literacy, art, music, and health within the African American community.
