Financial Aid Awareness Month

In recognition of Financial Aid Awareness Month, OCAP and UCanGo2 provide students, parents and educators statewide with clear, trusted information about paying for college, including FAFSA completion, scholarships and responsible borrowing. Through free presentations, online tools, and step‑by‑step resources, UCanGo2 supports families from early planning through high school graduation so they can make informed financial aid decisions with confidence.

Because submitting the FAFSA is a graduation requirement for Oklahoma public‑school seniors, counselors play a critical role in ensuring students understand what the FAFSA is and how it helps pay for college or career training. Connect with our team to request FAFSA support and presentations to help your seniors successfully complete this graduation requirement.

Explore resources and publications on college planning, financial aid, finding scholarships, completing the FAFSA and interactive classroom games. Visit UCanGo2.org to educate yourself on how to plan, prepare and pay for education after high school.

When students receive their college financial aid offer, a student loan may be included — but accepting that loan is always a choice, not a requirement. Before borrowing, it’s important to explore scholarships, grants and other financial resources that could help reduce or eliminate the need for student debt. Review the Financial Aid 101 module on OKMM for additional information.

To make informed decisions about borrowing and repayment, visit StudentAid.gov and OklahomaMoneyMatters.org for trusted, easy-to-understand publications designed to help you manage student loans wisely and protect your financial future.
And while you’re there, be sure to check out a new resource from OKMM! You can now send your students to OklahomaMoneyMatters.org to complete their Financial Literacy Standards all in one place.
All fourteen required financial literacy standards are available in short, educational modules, with a quick quiz so students can show what they’ve learned. To explore everything that’s available, head to the High School Students section at OklahomaMoneyMatters.org.
