| Allstate Collective Action Session: We Need You!
| |
| The OD Network and the Allstate OD team have been working together to create a collective action pursuit and need your help! Join us on Monday, October 16, at the 2017 OD Network Annual Conference as we partner with the Allstate team to solve for a real-life business situation that requires an OD intervention. We’ll transport ourselves into the future and hear from well-regarded futurist Jens Hansen, who will discuss “the Future of Work” to kick-off the session. How will AI impact our work? Share your views during this session! Having this context, the Allstate team will present a complex business issue and the audience (YOU) will participate with the help of Covision technology. You’ll experience “just-in-time” coaching from Tara Carcillo, President of The Clearing, and a few brave OD practitioners will get the opportunity to present back practical solutions to the Allstate executive team for consideration. Join us in Chicago for this creative and significantly important collective action session!

| OD Network and OD Network Japan Unite to Go Beyond Boundaries
| |
| Konnichiwa! This past week OD Network Board Member and last year's Chair Sherry J. Duda presented “The Future of OD” with 160 of our OD Network Japan colleagues. The conference theme was “Going Beyond Boundaries.” Sherry discussed OD’s brand, the influence of technology on the workplace and the Global OD Practice Framework. What do our Japanese counterparts believe are the most important competencies to effectively achieving their work? 51% shared that the competency “Process Facilitation” was most important. Other top contenders were the “Life-Long Learner” competency at 39% and the “Credible Influencer” competency at 29%. In terms of development, 39% shared that “Systems Change Leadership” and “Strategic Catalyst” competencies were the least developed. This session demonstrated the complexity of working together across global boundaries and virtual facilitation via technology. Although the use of technology was somewhat unfamiliar to this population, the team used 5 pc’s plus one iphone: one for Zoom, one for Skype, one for Whatsapp, one for UMU, one for translation, and one for the interpreter. Talk about a high-wire facilitation act! The OD Network is so excited to continue our trusted, collaborative relationship with OD Network Japan!

| CERT2020: Creating A Global Standard for OD Competence
| |
| by Glen B. Earl, Ph.D., OD Network Member
In my role as project manager for the CERT2020 project, I have the ongoing opportunity to reflect upon our profession and what it means to be an OD practitioner. One area that continually comes to the forefront is the need and the desire to make the field of Organization Development truly international. From my perspective and experience, I firmly believe for the Organization Development Network to stay relevant, and continue to be positive change agents, we must be a vibrant global organization.
With good fortune, the CERT2020 team was created with interested and committed OD Network members from Canada, Japan, Singapore, Australia, Saudi Arabia, India, Germany and the United Kingdom, in addition to several members from eight different US states.
