UT Arlington has received a grant from the National Science Foundation to support educational activities related to the upcoming total solar eclipse. Faculty and graduate students are visiting elementary, middle, and high schools in the DFW area to give talks to about 4,000 students explaining the natural phenomena that occurs during the eclipse and the physics behind it. The grant is also providing for 1,500 students to take field trips to the UTA Planetarium, one of the three largest in Texas, to learn about the eclipse prior to the April 8 event.

Of the approximately 140 public and private universities in Texas, roughly 10 have women in both the president and provost positions. With Jennifer Cowley and Tamara L. Brown, UTA is one of them—and one of the largest. 

UTA's Fort Worth Center continues to strengthen its relationship with the city of Fort Worth, with new program offerings and the first cohort of city employees set to graduate from the Master of Public Administration program.
