“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, what are you doing for others?” – Martin Luther King, Jr.
Community Schools, such as NOCA, operate on nearly 1/2 the funding as a traditional public school in our area. While NOCA has made great strides to be good stewards of public funding, we rely on parents to help offset the funding gaps in creative ways.
Two NO COST ways YOU CAN HELP are:
1) Volunteer- our school would not be where it is today without the countless volunteer hours from parents like you. Click HERE to complete our volunteer questionnaire.
2) Complete Household Income Form- a portion of state funding is based on social economic need that is assessed annually. Having completed forms from every family has the potential to grant NOCA access to more funding which in turn helps your students. Update your 2022/2023 form today!
Inclement Weather Communication
In the event of inclement weather, families will be notified and/or can find information via:

Service & Seals
NOCA high students must complete 96 hours of community service prior to graduation and complete an Ohio Means Job (OMJ) form. Juniors should have this form completed by the end of this school year.
Students are encouraged to review their academic progress and begin conversations with their families about next steps for course selections for the 2023-24 school year. Look for course requests and an updated course catalog in March.
SAT College Entrance Exam
Per the state of Ohio, all juniors are entitled to one free college entrance exam at school during the school day. NOCA juniors will be taking the SAT on March 2. Please check out the following resources to help you prepare for this important initiative.
Experts (including the college board) recommend taking the SAT at least twice.
"Students who took the SAT twice improved their score by an average of 46 points."

End of Course Exams
High school students in Ohio must take and pass End of Course exams in the subjects of Algebra I and English II in order to have a pathway to graduation. A minimum passing score is 684. Students who do not pass are given the opportunity to retest every semester. Please find practice tests by clicking on the button below. The next tests will be administered
College Campus Visits and Preview Days
High school students (especially juniors) are encouraged to begin setting up campus visits to aide in their discernment of the college of best fit. Be sure to pick-up a campus visit questionnaire in the counseling corner to get the most out of your visit.
College Credit Plus (CCP)
The College Credit Plus (CCP) program is a free early college option for students enrolled in grades 7-12 who are Ohio residents. Participants are required to attend a meeting and counseling session about the risks associated with participation in the program. Letter of Intents are due to Mrs. Desmond by April 1.

Basketball: The inaugural basketball season for the High School team has come to an end. The team won 2 games and battled hard in every contest. The future is bright for Spartan's basketball as they head into the offseason with a goal of continuing to improve. Junior High boy's basketball is rolling along and looks to finish their season strong with two games left in February. Grades 3-6 boys are playing in the TAACYL this year and that season is under way with both teams already achieving their first wins of the young season!
Swim: The lady Aqua Spartans swam their way to a 3rd place finish at the Toledo invite, beating Central and Whitmer. Leading the team in points scored was Meaghan Desmond who won the 100 yard backstroke dropping 4.68 seconds for a season personal best.
Samuel Ferradino led the boys team with a 3rd place finish in the 100 breast dropping 1.56 seconds for a seasonal best time as well.
Congratulations on a great season to all of our Spartan Swimmers!
Wrestling: Wrestling started with the new year. We have 10+ boys in grades 3 and up learning core skills this year. They are focusing on proper wrestling techniques and discipline.
Special thanks to all the parents & staff who volunteer to coach our Spartans!
