Summer Reading!
We encourage our students to engage in personal reading every day for pleasure. Reading for pleasure helps students maintain and improve academic skills learned during the school year.
The books included on our 2020 summer reading list are highly recommended by District teachers and staff and have also been endorsed by reputable literacy organizations around the world. Every book recommendation includes a link to it at the St. Louis Public Library or on Amazon.

Looking Ahead: 2020-2021 School Year
SLPS Superintendent Dr. Kelvin Adams has established a School Restart Task Force to develop recommendations related to the start of the 2020-2021 school year this fall.
The task force is comprised of school leaders, teachers, district leaders, community leaders and parents who represent a wide range of SLPS schools. The task force has five sub-committees: Governance, Wellness, Instruction, Facilities/School Operations and Technology. Click HERE for additional information.
Dr. Adams and other district leadership continue to be in weekly communication with City of St. Louis Department of Health Director Dr. Frederick Echols for additional guidance and direction around the start of school.
In the 2020-2021 school year calendar adopted by the Board of Education, August 24, 2020, marks the first day of school. However, depending on how the pandemic develops over the summer months and any actions taken by the state, that could change. We will keep you updated, as we learn more.
2020 Census - Be Counted Today!
Data collected in the current 2020 Census will inform the annual distribution of more than $675 billion dollars in federal funds.
Ensure our community gets its fair share to pay for things like infrastructure, schools, health care and food assistance.
Be counted. And make sure every person in your family is counted, including babies and young children who are often missed.
Responding to the Census is safe, confidential and easy—taking an average of just 10 minutes. Plus, it has never been easier to respond. Visit my2020census.gov to complete your Census form today.
