HOLLYWOOD EXEC RETURNS TO LEAD ENTERTAINMENT PROGRAM

In her three decades as an entertainment lawyer in Hollywood, Julie Shapiro ’89 has negotiated deals and worked on contracts for major studios, top television networks, major talent agencies and A-list talent. As the new director of LLS' Entertainment and Media Law Institute, director of the Entertainment Concentration program and an associate professor, she is bringing her experience back to her alma mater. BLACK IN AMERICA:
BETWEEN LAW & JUSTICE

From 5-6 p.m. this Wednesday, August 26, the law school's inaugural Black August Keynote address will feature LMU Bellarmine College of Liberal Arts Professor Dr. Stefan Bradley discussing the historical role of Black jurors, litigators and adjudicators. The lecture will also highlight the duties of future attorneys interested in Black freedom. The event is co-hosted by the Black Law Students Association. More>>

LIBRARY EXPANDS OFFERINGS OF VIRTUAL STUDENT RESOURCES

The William M. Rains Library has a pair of new offerings. The Wolters Kluwer Online Study Aid Library provides students with online access to 200-plus study aids, including the E&E, Emanuel and Glannon Guides Series. This is in addition to the LexisNexis Digital Library, which offers convenient e-book access. Learn more on the library's COVID Resources page.

Hali Archer '22 leveraged Career Development Office resources to map a pathway into the COVID-19 Bankruptcy Clinic. In virtual collaboration with other clinic students, the opportunity allowed her to practice legal research around loan dischargeability. More>>

LAUCHING THE LLS ORCHESTRA

The LLS Orchestra will bring together LLS students, alumni, faculty and staff. Members of the LLS community who play an instrument and wish to join should complete an online form. The new LLS Orchestra will be led by Professor Simona Grossi, an accomplished musician who serves as its music director and principal conductor.
