In January of 2021, Kuni Foundation awarded us grant to remodel and refurbish our Pheasant Street Group Home. Our residents had been aging there together, and Edwards wanted to keep residents in a family unit and to allow each resident to age in place. The remodel allowed us to make the necessary changes to accommodate their needs.
We were able to remodel the kitchen, do contiguous flooring throughout the house, make bathroom improvements, and do a complete interior re-paint along with converting an old fireplace to gas—providing us with a backup heat source during power outages. Marlene has always enjoyed cooking, but as her needs had changed, she needed a more handicapped accessible kitchen which this grant provided.
