Life Science Tennessee Takes D.C.
This week, a team of Life Science Tennessee staff, board members, and members traveled to D.C. to meet with Tennessee's delegation to the U.S. Congress and advocate for the continued advancement of our industry.
We held a breakfast for our delegates that honored Senator Lamar Alexander (R-TN) with additional remarks from Rep. Phil Roe (R-TN-1) and Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN-2). We also participated in eight legislative meetings that included Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN-9) and Rep. Scott DesJarlais (R-TN-4), as well as a briefing with Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee staff.
Again and again, we heard support for the innovations we create and recognition of the challenges facing our industry from the medical device tax, set to go into effect January 1 barring a repeal, and the debate over drug pricing and transparency. Read our federal policy recommendations.
Thank you to all who participated and made this a successful trip!
