November 2018
| |
Dear , As the semester comes to a close, I wanted to make sure everyone was up-to-date on the happenings within our Division for the month of November. We have been working with Chartwells Food Services to improve a variety of services across campus. First, we have made some staffing changes with the addition of a new catering manager, Carissa Renninger. Please make sure you reach out to her for any future or planned catering events. Her goal is to make sure your event receives the best service possible. In addition, we have also moved Kayla Inskeep (the former catering manager) to Christman Dining Hall. I'm excited about this appointment because I know Kayla will give the dining hall the attention and passion it deserves. Finally, we have opened one retail location and will soon open a second on campus. In August, we opened Tu Taco, which is located next to Dunkin' Donuts. It is a Mexican concept similar to Chipotle and Hotheads. In the month of November, we plan to open the second location in the Cove (formerly the old bookstore) called Hisho Sushi. This retail area will make fresh sushi daily that will be distributed across campus for additional sales opportunities in some of our other grab and go locations. Suggestions for these locations came from numerous student forums and feedback we received from students across campus. Be sure to drop by these locations and give us your feedback. As always, our goal is to create the best Experience for students that is humanly possible. Also, many thanks to those who donated and helped to make the YSU Real Men Wear Pink fundraising campaign a success.
Thanks,

Baker says her favorite thing about YSU is the unwavering school spirit. She said, “You can feel pride at the football games and the games allow alumni and current students to really remember where they came from.” Baker loves many parts of her job, but her favorite aspect is planning programs. She enjoys providing students involvement opportunities and a voice in housing. “I really enjoy creating connections for the students in the building.” Baker is also thankful for her previous connections to campus, saying she is very comfortable reaching out to everyone and knows they will do anything they can to help her with her new position. Hilary Swinning
Cafaro Housing Coordinator
From: Waverly, Ohio
Came to YSU: July 2018
Hilary Swinning received a BA in Anthropology with a focus in Archaeology from Wright State University. Shortly after, she received a Masters of Education in Higher Education Administration and College Personnel from Kent State. Though Swinning has only been at YSU a few short months, she said working in housing is by far her favorite thing about campus. “Everyone is kind and welcoming, and meeting students in Cafaro House has been great and lots of fun,” she said.
Her favorite part of being a Housing Coordinator is working with the student staff (RAs) and student volunteers (Advisory Council). She loves “seeing how much they have grown in program planning” since the beginning of the semester. Swinning also enjoys other campus responsibilities aside from managing Cafaro House. These responsibilities include: sitting on the Title IX planning committee, planning two RA trainings as well as initiatives, and developing a training and selection process for the residence hall desk attendants and desk managers.
