August Concluded With A 12% Increase in Sales But A 7% Decrease in Foot Traffic
Independent grocers reported, during the 4th week of August, an increase in same-store sales of 15.91 percent compared to 2019. On the other hand, there was a decrease of 6.11 percent in consumer count.
Overall monthly sales were up 12.67 percent, while consumer count was down 7.23 percent. Strong everyday demand for #meat and #produce appears to be setting a new baseline
Employment is projected to grow by 6.0 million jobs from 2019 to 2029
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, unemployment rates were higher in July than a year earlier in all 389 metropolitan areas. However, employment is projected to grow from 162.8 million to 168.8 million over the 2019–29 decade, an increase of 6.0 million jobs or 0.4 percent per year.
