Welcome and Welcome Back! |
To our new students, welcome to the Tutorium! To our returning students, welcome back! We hope you have a wonderful first week of classes. Let’s make this a great semester.

A U-Pass is a CTA (Chicago trains and buses) pass. The fee for the U-PASS is $125 from May 14 to August 13.
Students continuing from Spring 2025:
You will have the same U-Pass status that you had in the Spring. If you had a U-Pass, then you will get one again. If you didn’t have a U-Pass, you will not get one.
New Students:
You must opt-in (sign up for) a U-Pass. If you want to opt-in, change, or check your U-Pass status for this Summer semester, go here. The CTA U-PASS is available for any student taking six or more credit hours.
Last day to opt in: 11:59 p.m. June 30. (After this date, you can NOT change your status and ask for a U-Pass. Please opt in this week!)
Pick up your U-Pass at SCE (Student Center East) at the ID office, using your iCard. It may take 6-8 days to receive your U-Pass after you opt-in, so do not expect it immediately, but go to the ID office to get a temporary bus pass. More U-Pass information.

If you want a parking pass for Summer 2025, read more>>. Scroll down to see the fee options. There is a pay-by-the-day option, but it is not efficient for frequent parkers. If you need to drive only a few times, check this out: Value Card Parking Program (pay by the day).

Email is the official form of communication at UIC. It is very important that you check your emails from UIC on a regular basis. Emails from the Tutorium (tutorium@uic.edu) and OIS (ois-tie@uic.edu) are especially important.
Pay careful attention to emails about your classes, immigration status, and insurance. Check your spam or junk mailbox.

Get to Know Your Classroom |
|
|
Once you find your classroom, make sure you walk around the building and familiarize yourself with the place: you will be spending a lot of time there!
In Addams Hall (AH), we have the Tutorium office (AH 105) where you can find the Tutorium front desk—this is where you can ask questions about anything related to your studies or your life in Chicago. We have classrooms in AH 104 and AH 110.
On the second floor of AH, you can find the nearest restroom, a hallway to Taft Hall (TH), the African American Culture Center (go say hi and admire art that they usually have there), and also a small room with a microwave to heat up your home lunch.

No Classes on Monday, May 26 |
On Monday, May 26, there will be no classes because of the Memorial Day Holiday! Memorial Day is a holiday where we celebrate and mourn those who have died during service in the U.S. military. This day also allows our students and faculty time to personally mourn the military loved ones they've lost.
