Finishing Up Registration
|
All National Tournament registration materials and payments were due Sunday, May 15. This includes entry details, payment, starting vaccine verification, initial script uploads, and the final list of judges you will bring to the tournament—including the number of days they will judge, judge paradigms, and certification they have completed the Cultural Competence training. Remember, all schools must provide a minimum of two days of in-person judging.
We are contacting schools this week who haven't completed registration. Save yourself an email and please check that you're good to go by visiting your school registration on Tabroom.com and checking for red Xs on the General tab. For an overview of how to complete registration on Tabroom.com, check out this webinar.

When is verification due? All attendees were supposed to have something in the VaccineCheck system by May 15. Attendees who have not entered their info by May 25 will be dropped from the tournament. If an attendee is due for another dose or needs to get a booster before the event, they should submit their current dose(s) using the instructions on-screen in the system and add their additional one when it has been secured.
- Who has to complete the verification? Anyone attending the tournament with your school, including students, coaches, judges, parents, and chaperones, etc. The exception is children under 5 years of age.
-
How does it work? All individuals attending the tournament must be entered as an Entry, Judge, or Attendee on the school's tournament registration and have their Tabroom.com account linked. This means all attendees, including parents, chaperones, etc. The verification must be completed using the Tabroom.com email address. Using the wrong email address will cause issues. When attendees are entered into the school’s Tabroom.com registration, they will receive an email from VaccineCheck via NSDA@WellCheck.us with a link to begin the verification process.
- What if I already used the wrong email? Please send an email to VaccineCheck at NSDA@WellCheck.us and tell them your name, what email you used, what email you should have used, and ask them to merge your records and remove your old email.
-
Someone didn't get the email. Now what? First, check your spam folder. If you don't see it, please email info@speechanddebate.org for support.
-
Do I have to get a booster? Individuals who received the second dose of the Moderna or Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine prior to December 1, 2021, or who received the first dose of the Johnson & Johnson/Janssen vaccine prior to March 1, 2022, must be boosted. More info »
- Why does Tabroom list a Vaccine check as pending?
- Reason 1: They haven't submitted their records yet. If this is the case with your student or attendee, check in with them on their status ASAP!
-
Reason 2: They still have a required action to complete. Attendees are listed as pending until all required actions have been completed, which may include uploading a negative test in June if they have received an exemption or securing and uploading additional doses or a booster.
-
Reason 3: Their submitted records haven't been verified by VaccineCheck yet. This may take several days.
- Reason 4: Their exemption is awaiting review. Exemption requests are reviewed multiples times per week. If an attendee has been waiting longer than that, they should contact us at info@speechanddebate.org.
-
Reason 5: They're approved, their records just haven't been updated. Tabroom doesn't sync with VaccineCheck automatically. If they were just approved, their status should be updated the next business day.

Building Your Packing List
|
Judges should bring a device with internet connectivity so they can access online ballots. Past attendees recommend bringing a reusable water bottle, power strips, and plenty of your favorite snacks. Students dress in competition attire, whatever that means they're comfortable in! For students and adults, we recommend comfortable shoes and layers to balance the Kentucky summer heat with high AC indoors. Plus, all attendees are required to wear their masks, as well as ribbons indicating they are associated with the tournament at all times.
