An Inspirational Evening!
Local KMB leaders and volunteers joined us on May 15 for an inspirational and fun-filled evening to celebrate our annual Massachusetts Clean Community Awards.
Festivities kicked off with a group sing-along to a customized version of Woody Guthrie's This Land is Your Land. Our emcee, WCVB chief meteorologist Cindy Fitzgibbon, then presented awards to celebrate the amazing work that volunteers are doing to clean up and green up communities across our state.
Our two youth volunteers of the year, Porter Shaffer of Keep Wakefield Beautiful and Jayden Harris of Keep Natick Beautiful, were particularly uplifting. These two young men shared inspirational comments and provided hope that the next generation can be counted on to take action to protect our environment and engage people to take care of their communities.
We also presented a lifetime achievement award to Pat Conaway, who has devoted countless hours to Keep Natick Beautiful and to its predecessor organization, Big Heart, Little Feet, for decades.
Finally, we'd like to thank our event sponsors, including Reworld, Garbo Grabber, Sam Adams and Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits, for their financial support. Thanks also to our silent auction donors, including Samsonite, Wegman's, Starbucks, New England Coffee, Unpacked Living, Black Earth Compost, and Boston Duck Tours.
