Library to Host Crafternoon: Angel Ornament Edition

Want to build a holiday angel ornament today, Monday, Nov. 21? Holiday treats and all crafting supplies are provided, but you must sign up in advance by emailing yun.so@lls.edu and indicating the session you'd like to attend: [Session A: 12-1 p.m.] or [Session B: 5-6 p.m.]. Art Law Society Paint-Along

Loyola Law School's Art Law Society invites students to paint some happy little trees and de-stress before finals with a Bob Ross Paint Along! Stop by the Advocacy Center Lawn on Tuesday, Nov. 22, between 12-3 p.m., where we'll stream old episodes of The Joy of Painting, making art, and enjoying some cozy refreshments.

Town Hall on the CA Racial Justice Act for All

On Monday, Nov. 28, 2022 from 5-7 p.m. in the Burns Lounge, the CJLP and LARC will cosponsor a town hall on the newly enacted California Racial Justice Act for All, which retroactively eliminates the unfair prohibition on using statistics to prove racial discrimination in criminal cases that occurred as a result of the disastrous opinion in McCleskey v. Kemp. District Attorney George Gascon and CA Assemblymember Ash Karla will be panelists. Many of the architects of the new bill will be present to discuss how to use it to advance racial justice.

Western Conference on Tax Exempt Orgs Set for Dec. 1-2, 2022

LMU Loyola Law School and UCLA School of Law’s Program on Philanthropy and Nonprofits will host the 26th-annual Western Conference on Tax Exempt Organizations. This in-person conference will run Thursday, Dec. 1 and Friday, Dec. 2 at the Omni Los Angeles Hotel at California Plaza in downtown Los Angeles. The two-day conference includes 13 sessions on legal developments of critical importance to charities and other nonprofit organizations. The conference features an array of prominent tax-exemption experts including officials from the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the IRS, plus prominent West Coast lawyers and accountants. Asian Pacific American Bar Hosts 'Firsts in Law' Event

The Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Los Angeles County is hosting its 2022 Recent Trailblazers in the Law event in celebration of recent historic "firsts" in the legal profession. The event will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 6 from 6-7 p.m. and will feature a Zoom reception in honor of this year's recipients, followed by a virtual panel discussing the honorees' paths to success and contemporary challenges in the legal world.
