CURRICULUM CORNER: Science
The Science and Engineering Practices (SEPs) are one of the three dimensions of teaching science. Each of the practices build from K-2, 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12.
Obtaining, Evaluating, and Communicating Information is the eighth practice. “Scientists and engineers must be able to communicate clearly and persuasively the ideas and methods they generate.  Critiquing and communicating ideas is a critical professional activity.  Communicating information and ideas can be done in multiple ways: using tables, diagrams, graphs, models, equations orally, in writing and extended discussion.  They employ multiple sources to obtain information that is used to evaluate the merit and validity of claims, methods, and designs.”
For more information visit ngss@nsta.org or contact Valentina Bumbu (6-12) or Janet “Carrie” Launius (K-5)
