A Special Thanks from Director Jonathan Lovitz

National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce New York

Dear NGLCCNY Members, Supporters, and LGBTBEs,
As we look forward to 2017 with joy and optimism for both our businesses and community, I want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you who have helped make 2016 the most successful year for NGLCCNY.   Once again, we have shattered records: we have never had more members, more certified LGBT Business Enterprises, and more supportive corporate partners than we did this year.
Furthermore, the momentum pushing us forward is astounding as we continue to roll out programming and opportunities for you and your businesses to thrive in the private sector— as well as demonstrate how vital our LGBT business community is to the success of the public sector, too. This month members of NGLCCNY joined me to testify in front of the New York City Council’s Committee on Contracts to lay the foundation for the inclusion of Certified LGBTBEs in New York City’s spend of over $10 Billion on contracting opportunities. Coupled with our introduction of the New York State Supplier Diversity Act — which would open nearly $240 Billion in contracts to Certified LGBTBEs in NY— we are on the brink of the greatest expansion of new business for our community that we have ever seen.

Celebrating 2016 Success & Record Breaking National Dinner

NGLCC

NGLCC celebrated the 2016 National Dinner Awards Gala on Friday, November 18. The record-breaking and star-studded event followed the successful launch of the inaugural NGLCC Global LGBTI Business Week, which brought LGBT and allied business leaders from around the world to Washington, DC. Both events recognized the tremendous success of the LGBT business community in 2016, but also highlighted the continued work needed to further LGBT business equality.

Non-Profit Spotlight

God's Love We Deliver

In 1985, a hospice volunteer named Ganga Stone paid a visit to an AIDS patient that changed her life. The patient, Richard Sale, was too ill to cook for himself. Ganga's compassion took hold, a meal was prepared and delivered on the next visit, and an epiphany was born:  Something as basic as delivering a meal could bring dignity and recognition to a desperate situation.
