⛔️ Don't click their link. |
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) warns of an ongoing wave of text message phishing attacks claiming people have unpaid road tolls.
|
- The phishing texts were reported in three states and are spreading to others
-
"Outstanding toll amount" language tricks the targets into clicking an embedded link
- The information in the link impersonates the state's toll service name
- The link can collect personal information
|
If you receive a text providing you with a link to pay an outstanding toll, do not click on the link, and delete the text.
You can contact the toll service's customer service phone number by searching for it OUTSIDE of the text. Never click links texted to you by unfamiliar numbers especially when they claim you owe money.
