This is the theme of our year-end appeal and I can’t think of three better words to sum up 2020 at The Arc Montgomery County. I am in awe of our staff at all levels who pitched in and helped out when and where needed. I wonder at the remarkable way the people we support have handled the pandemic. I have immense gratitude for many things during a year in which it was not always easy to be grateful.

Gov. Hogan Announces COVID Relief

In late December, Governor Larry Hogan announced additional relief for COVID impacted businesses and industries. According to the Governor, the $180 million package includes $40 million to Medicaid community service providers, including those who support people with developmental disabilities in community services. It's here—a Statewide Technology Resource Guide for Individuals with Disabilities! Through funding from the CARES Act, this Resource Guide was created to assist both organizations serving people with disabilities and people with disabilities to access internet/data, equipment, and training/tech support. Metrobus Recovery Plan

Metrobus will resume fare collection and front-door boarding beginning Sunday, January 3, as part of Metro's pandemic recovery plan that aims to preserve service and transit jobs.

Beginning January 3, customers should board at the front of the bus. The cost per trip is $2 payable in cash or with SmarTrip. Click here for more information.

The Giving Tree

For many decades, The Arc Montgomery County has been a grateful recipient of Holy Cross Catholic Church's holiday giving initiative. The Giving Tree program allows parishioners to provide holiday gifts for individuals who might otherwise have none. This year, the tradition continued despite logistical challenges, and Holy Cross provided gifts for many children, youth, and adults in our programs. We are grateful for their steadfast generosity-it truly made our holidays merry and bright!

Together We're Better

The Arc Maryland's Inclusive Education Campaign is now live for the 2020-21 school year! The TWB program aims to raise awareness of the value and importance of inclusion of students with disabilities. TWB offers online presentations and diversity toolkits, as well as contests and prizes! Discussions with Daria Continue!

Discussions with Daria is a new initiative to encourage The Arc Montgomery County's employees, people supported, and families of people supported to engage directly with Daria Cervantes, our Interim CEO, on a regular basis. Each Friday at 3 pm, Daria will host a Zoom discussion targeted to a particular group. Participants are welcome to submit their questions in advance.
