Join Advocates for a Rally to "Save Our DD Services"- Monday Night (Tonight) in Annapolis!
We are facing an unprecedented threat to DD supports with severe cuts to funding for people with developmental disabilities and providers of community-based supports. Join the Maryland DD Coalition Rally to Save Our DD Services! #SaveOurDDServices
  • Date: TONIGHT - Monday, February 3rd, 2025
  • Time: 7–8:15 pm (please arrive early to find parking and walk over to the location)
Location: Lawyers Mall, Annapolis, MD, directly in front of the State House (100 State Circle)
  • Signs: The DD Coalition has designed signs and there should be enough for anyone who wants one! We kindly ask that you do not bring your own.
  • What to Wear: This is a "White Out". In solidarity, we encourage everyone to wear white to symbolize our unity and commitment.
  • ParkingClick here for information on Annapolis parking. The two closest garages to Lawyer’s Mall are the Noah Hillman garage and the Gott’s Court garage. There is also street parking that can be paid for with the Park Mobile app. If you or someone you support needs assistance with transportation, please contact Chris Leacock, Government Affairs Specialist.
We need as many people as possible to join us for this rally! If you have questions, please contact Chris Leacock.

DD Day Is Almost Here!

Developmental Disabilities Day (DD Day) at the Legislature is approaching and The Arc Montgomery County will be there! We will be advocating about vital issues like the proposed cuts to the Developmental Disabilities Administration’s (DDA) budget and Medicaid. We will also be visiting various offices in Annapolis and sharing literature. DD Day is Thursday, February 13. The event should be live-streaming on the day. Click here to learn more.
National Disability Employment Awareness Month

Calendar Day 2025

You may have picked up on this by now, but we have been coming and going to Annapolis a lot! Yay, advocacy! In January, The Arc Montgomery County employees and people we support headed to the state capital to hand out The Arc Maryland calendars (our chapter is the month of July!) and to meet with Senator Nancy King and her staff, and employees of the office of Delegate Sarah Wolek and Delegate Bernice Dansoah Mireku-North. Every January, The Arc Chapters across Maryland assemble in Annapolis on the second day of the Legislative Session to raise awareness and advocate for the rights and well-being of people with IDD.

Book It to the Library!

Did you know there is an active book club happening within our chapter? Loretta (Community Activities Coordinator, E&MD) has spearheaded this club where people supported have been reading "My Friend, My Hero (The Hero Book Series 1)" by Jerald LaVon Hoover. Mr. Hoover even FaceTimed the book club during one of their meetings at the Germantown library! Please send us an email if you're interested in getting involved.

Congratulations Tenured Employees!
