Funk & Reggae  - Tuesdays at 5:30  - Starts June 23rd
With so much happening both socially and politically here at home and overseas in the 1970s, what with the Vietnam War, the rise of The Black Panther Party, and urban decay thanks to a slumping economy and immoral practices by the CIA, people needed music that while still political and with a voice, could also take people's minds off of what was happening, if even for just a night.  Many great artists from here and abroad managed to create music that spoke for personal freedom, peace, and civil rights,  all while tearing the ROOF off of the dance floor.
Expect heaters from funk masters Sly Stone, Parliament, Chaka Kahn, James Brown, Kool and Gang, Patti Labelle and others, as well as some ire jams from Jamaica's massive such as Susan Cadogan, Phyllis Dillon, Toots and the Maytals, Steel Pulse, Lee "Scratch" Perry and the Upsetters, and of COURSE, Bob Marley and the Wailers.  Jah know, star!

Jersey Rocks -  Wednesdays at 5:30  - Starts June 24th
Every artist is to some extent, one way or another, influenced by where they are from.  The best ones celebrate their roots, as it is an important part of their whole.  I'm not from New Jersey, nor do I live there now, so let me be possibly the first unbiased person to tell you:  Jersey has a long, rich history musically.  Sano amps were made here, as were Stella guitars (later bought by Harmony).  There are too many famous New Jersey musicians to mention, but here are just a few:  Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Skid Row, The Misfits, Franki Valli, Frank Sinatra, Yo La Tengo, Saves the Day, Thursday, The Shirelles, The Smithereens, and on and on and on.  It will be a diverse show.  It will be rocking show.  It will be a New Jersey show.

Guitar Gods - Thursdays at  5:30 - Starts June 25th
I saw an interview once with a very prominent physicist.  Towards the end of the interview he was asked what the most important discovery or invention of the 20th century was.  His answer?  "The electric guitar".  It's true.  When the lute (the predecessor of the guitar), tablature was created, and all of a sudden the non-aristocracy could, with virtually no formal musical training, get together with friends and family and create ART.  When the guitar was amplified in the early 20th century, this revolution took another great leap because the guitar could THEN get together with other, often louder, instruments.  This show will celebrate many of the instruments best, from early pioneers like Les Paul, Jimmy Bryant, and Buddy Guy, to more modern six-string samurai such as Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, "Dimebag" Darrell, Frank Zappa, Slash, etc.
