Customer Service Center and facilities update
Design of the new Customer Service Center 🏢 is nearing completion, with construction to begin early next year. The facility will be built at the SU 560 project at Southwestern University, which includes retail, office, restaurant, and hospitality uses.

The $56 million center, funded by voter-approved bonds in 2023, will be home to more than 250 employees serving in several, customer-facing City of Georgetown departments, including askGTX, Code Compliance, Customer Care, Development Engineering, Economic Development, Fire Marshal, Human Resources, Information Technology, Permitting and Building Inspections, Planning, System Engineering, and Utility Billing. This 75,000-square-foot building is expected to open in mid-2028.

The City of Georgetown will reimburse up to $8.5 million to Southwestern University for the cost of roads at SU 560.

"We are truly excited to get started on our new Customer Service Center at Southwestern University. Housing many of our customer-facing departments, this facility will help launch a new destination location for retail, entertainment, and services in Georgetown. We look forward to working with Southwestern to partner on this signature development in our city."—Georgetown Mayor Josh Schroeder

Work on other 2023 City facility bond projects is underway:

🏢 YMCA: A groundbreaking was held Friday, May 29, for this facility, to which the City is contributing $10 million. It will be located on Williams Drive near Jim Hogg Road. The facility is expected to open by the end of 2027. Learn more about the YCMA project.

🏢Animal shelter expansion: Design work should be complete this fall on the $15 million expansion of the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter.

Free chlorine rinse July 8-Aug. 8
Attention, Georgetown water customers: From July 8 to Aug. 8, the City of Georgetown Water Utility will conduct system maintenance. You might notice a temporary change in water odor or color. Water remains safe to drink for humans, pets (except fish, see below), and plants.

📣 Important notice for dialysis patients and centers!
During our water system maintenance from July 8 to Aug. 8, take special precautions with water used for dialysis. Although safe for consumption, proper treatment is needed to remove disinfectants for use in the dialysis process.

🐠 Heads up, fish tank owners
During our water system maintenance, water won't be suitable for fish tanks or aquariums due to the temporary disinfection process change. Keep your aquatic friends safe by making alternative arrangements.

🏊‍️ Attention pool owners
During the maintenance period, chlorine levels should be maintained as usual to prevent algae and bacterial growth. Contact your local pool supply store for more details.

💧 Important facts
The maintenance being performed, called Free Chlorine Rinse, is a regular maintenance process recommended by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. Concentrations maintained during the Free Chlorine Rinse period will be well within state and federal drinking water standards.

During the maintenance, hydrants will be flushed to maintain clear water and ensure the effectiveness of the process. When flushing hydrants, the water department will divert water onto lawns and grassy areas for reuse. Customers should not see a change in water pressure.

If a change occurs it should be momentary. Report low pressure persisting longer than an hour to the Customer Care team at customercare@georgetowntexas.gov.

Pet of the Week

Bold Helvetica has quickly become a staff and volunteer favorite, and it's easy to see why! She recently spent some time in a foster home, and they had wonderful things to say about this lovely girl.

She was perfect with the kids in the home (ages 2, 5, and 8)-gentle, polite, and happy to be part of the family. Her foster also shared that she's potty trained with no accidents, and she's wonderfully quiet around the house with no barking.

Bold Helvetica enjoys getting out for walks and does great on leash, and she's also a good passenger on car rides. When she's not out exploring, she's happiest soaking up the simple joys in life: being outside, belly rubs, lots of affection, and of course a few tasty treats.

If you're looking for a sweet, well-mannered companion who already has great house manners and loves people, Bold Helvetica may be the perfect addition to your family.

Walk-ins are welcome during open hours: 🕛 noon to 6 p.m. daily, excluding some holidays
