Dear Industry professional,
The ATM Industry continues to prove its resilience during the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic. Across the world, we are seeing examples of how businesses are innovating and adapting: UV sanitizing of notes, regular cleaning of machines and the adoption of new hygiene standards speaks to the strength of our industry.
ATMIA is committed to the message that cash is a safe payment method. We have been busy working with members to ensure that misinformation surrounding cash is quickly addressed. Issues such as claims that cash should stop being used due to the potential for cash to be a “super spreader” of the virus have been rejected by authorities around the world. This was particularly seen in a statement made by the WHO, in which it was emphasized “We did NOT say that cash was transmitting coronavirus,” said WHO spokeswoman Fadela Chaib, “We said you should wash your hands after handling money, especially if handling or eating food. Doing so is good hygiene practice.”

Though we all face challenges during these uncertain times, you can be certain in ATMIA’s commitment to both you, and the Industry. Should you need assistance or if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us anytime.
Thanks,
Sandra Smith
