Notre Dame Architecture Graduate Designs a Sanctuary for Pope Francis

In Philadelphia this September, when Pope Francis celebrates an outdoor Sunday Mass with some 1,500 priests and an estimated 1.5 million lay people, he will be standing in a sanctuary designed by James Lenahan, a Glen Ellyn, Illinois, native who recently graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Master of Architecture degree.

Chicago Summer Studio Designs Performance Space for Newberry Consort
Professor David Mayernik led undergraduate architecture students in an eight-week design project for the Newberry Library to house their Renaissance music collection and create a dedicated performance space.  Read more

Accessability Awareness Day
Architecture students experienced firsthand some of the challenges confronting people with disabilities in daily campus life during the University's 8th Accessibility Awareness Day on Friday Sept. 4.
Notre Dame Day 2015
The Notre Dame family came together on campus and around the globe on April 26-27, 2015, to celebrate Our Lady’s University during the second annual Notre Dame Day.

Career Discovery Program Follow Up
In June, the School of Architecture once again hosted the Career Discovery program for high school students. Prof. Al DeFrees and John Stamper, along with 7 Teaching Assistants, introduced architecture concepts to 42 students. The high schoolers ranged in age from 15 – 18 and represented 18 US states as well as Canada and Egypt.

Information about the 2016 program will be available in February.
