Continue to Mask-Up Indoors

With colder weather right around the corner – and more events, from basketball to Winter commencement – taking place indoors, please remember our indoor mask mandate.

Specifically …

All faculty, staff, students and visitors, regardless of their vaccination status, must wear face coverings while inside University and Hospital buildings. This includes classrooms, hallways, libraries and other common spaces, as well as SBU buses and shuttles. It also includes the Health Sciences and Basic Sciences Towers, offices in Flowerfield, Tech Park, Ronkonkoma and Commack, and administrative areas within outpatient facilities and physician practices. Volunteer face mask champions continue to help us keep our environment safe by providing mask-wearing information, guidance and reminders. And individuals who’ve forgotten their masks can get one from the library, as well as information desks in Student Life central spaces at the SAC and Student Union. You can help by making sure you mask-up and if you see something (like someone not properly masked indoors), say something.

Masking Up at Winter Commencement ...

We look forward to celebrating commencement with you in person on Friday, December 17. To ensure your health and safety, Stony Brook University is requiring that all candidates and their guests wear a mask at all times when inside the IFCU Arena. The University continues to closely monitor the guidance provided by the CDC and New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) for large event gatherings. Please visit our Commencement website for the latest ceremony details, COVID entry requirements and guest ticket information as they are subject to change.

Come help cheer on our Seawolves to victory this basketball season. And when you do, please make sure you’re fully masked when you enter the Arena. Consistent with the University guidelines for the fall semester, masks are required indoors except when eating or drinking. See more on the exciting start to the season, and how to get tickets, here. Testing Updates/Reminders

This week, fully vaccinated West Campus employees with last names F-L test. If you haven’t tested this week yet, there’s still time today at the SAC (HSC is closed). Next week (week of November 15) it’s employees with last names M-R. See the full testing schedule here, including adjusted hours for the holidays.

Employees who are not vaccinated, or haven’t shared their vaccination status, must continue testing weekly.
