Transition all classrooms to Windows machines only..Spring 2020 pilot
Dear Instructor,
As a part of DoIT's ongoing evaluation and improvement of classroom experiences, we will begin moving classroom computers to a Windows-only environment beginning this Spring, with a full implementation of Windows-only machines in Fall 2020.  The following rooms will be converted to Windows only machines over Spring Break:
  • Frey 104
  • Frey 105
  • Javits 105
  • Melville Library N3033
  • HSC L2 Sem3A
  • HSC L3 171
  • HSC L3 159
Since you are teaching in one of the above rooms, we want to make sure that you are aware of the following:
  • On March 16th 2020, all existing data on this classroom's computer will be permanently deleted.  We will not be able to retrieve any files saved onto the computer.
  • Please save any files on the computer to  either a USB device,  your MySBfiles, or to cloud storage (such as Google Drive or One Drive) before March 16th.
When you come back from Spring Break:
  • The machine will only run Windows
  • Mac Users: You will need to bring your own device OR borrow a Macbook for the class period from the AV office.
  • You will not be able to save files to the machine.  All files will need to be saved to either a USB device, MySBfiles, or uploaded to a cloud storage account (such as Google Drive or One Drive)
  • Turning Point files will save to your MySBfiles
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this initiative, please contact avservices@stonybrook.edu or call 631.632.9400. We are here to help!
Sincerely,
