SPRING MUSICAL!

Santa Fe Prep presents this year's video musical extravaganza! You don't want to miss this incredible performance of some of your favorite musical numbers from shows like Dear Evan HansonBeetlejuiceMean GirlsThe Prom, and many more. The show features four seniors who have had impressive careers in Prep theater: Angelina Friedrichs, Rafaella Mark, Margaret Tambke, and Urian Vasquez. We hope you'll join us in supporting and celebrating this fantastic cast of 17 students in a new and creative format! You will see them singing and dancing all around the Prep campus, and the creative videography allows a unique view of the musical numbers.
The show will stream Friday, May 7 at 7pm, Saturday, May 8 at 8pm, and Sunday, May 9 at 2pm on ShowTix4U. Tickets are FREE for all and can be reserved now. When you reserve your ticket, you can make an optional donation to the Santa Fe Prep theater department.
We are so proud of this cast and crew for adapting to the challenges of our time and for bringing us this fantastic show!

Please join us in wishing all of them good luck at Nationals in June!

NEXT PARENTS' ASSOCIATION MEETING

A dedicated group of faculty and staff make up Prep’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEIJ) working group. We are thrilled that they will present at our next PA meeting to share their work.
Please join us on Tuesday, April 13, from 5:30 – 6:30pm to hear from Douglas Arnwine, Camila Friedman-Gerlicz, Breshaun Joyner, Hanna Negishi Levin, Aiyana Pendleton, Eric Rounds, and Matt Ybarra. We'll learn what the group has been up to, what’s ahead, and how parents can be involved.
An email has already gone out to parents with the Zoom meeting information, and we will resend this the day before the meeting as well. We hope you can join us!

COLLEGE COUNSELING
CASE STUDIES EVENT

Juniors and their parents are invited to our Eighth Annual Case Studies Event Wednesday, April 21, 10 – 11am. This year, the event will again be held virtually with fifty college admissions reps from around the country coming directly to your home! Each participant will be reading "real" applications and serving on a mock admissions committee with real admissions officers to guide you. In short, we are hoping to "pull back the curtain" on this mysterious selection process and prepare students for writing the strongest applications possible next fall.
Following the Case Studies, we will also be hosting a virtual college fair for juniors, from 11am – 12pm, with the college reps from the Case Studies. A full invitation will be emailed soon.

CLASSROOM SPOTLIGHT: ENGLISH 7

Sarah Stark's 7th grade English students have begun their reading of The Animal Dialogues: Uncommon Encounters in the Wild, by nature writer Craig Childs. The class will be reading, as Childs suggests, as if they have "come upon the book by accident, ... left open to a passage on mountain lions." Students will be spending a lot of time outside, observing natural surroundings and, later, writing about what they experience. The class will also have the incredible opportunity to meet Mr. Childs during a virtual visit later this month! Stay tuned to hear more about the visit in our next newsletter.

WATCH SFP GAMES ONLINE

Although our in-person spectators are limited, you can catch your Prep athletes in action on our new Athletics YouTube channel. Games in the gym are streamed live, and all others are posted shortly after the game. Go Blue Griffins!

GRIFFIN SHOUTOUTS

Congratulations to three Prep seniors who have been awarded LANL Foundation scholarships! Revely Rothschild won the Cobb Education Scholarship for students interested in pursuing teaching careers. Bess McAlpin and Coco Randolph were named Bronze Scholars. All three have been awarded $1500/year for four years. See the full list of scholars and read more about the LANL Foundation Scholarships here.

Revely, Bess, and Coco, we're so proud of you and can't wait to follow your next steps!
In the February newsletter we reported on Prep students who had won New Mexico Scholastic Art Awards.
A few of those students moved on to the regional and national level. Weston Keller '23 and Aviva Nathan '23 both won National Gold Medals for the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. Over 80,000 students from across the country entered, and less than half a percent of students won a bronze, silver or gold national medal. Congrats, Aviva and Weston!
