Juniors & Sophomores Mark Your Calendars:
PSAT/NMSQT October 11th

In our continued commitment to our students’ college readiness and our ongoing improvement efforts, the annual PSAT/NMSQT exam will be administered to all juniors and sophomores at WHS on Wednesday, October 11th during the school day with results being available in mid-December. The PSAT measures critical reading, math problem solving, and writing skills that are important for success in college and in other post-secondary pursuits and is the qualifying test juniors must take to enter the National Merit Scholarship Corporation scholarship program. The exam will be administered on-site during the course of the school day.

The exam fee is $18.00 and has been populated to all junior and sophomore accounts and is due September 15.
SAT Testing Information - Wed, October 11

The SAT School Day exam is scheduled for WHS seniors on Wednesday, October 11 (during the school day at WHS).

Registration Deadlines:

Registration window is from Wednesday, August 30 through Friday, September 29 (no late registration after September 29) for WHS October 11 SAT School Day. To register, please create an account using the link below (if you have not created one previously). Then click on Woodinville High School to register and pay the $60 exam fee online no later than September 29.

https://regismart.net/#/login
Registration and payment are not made at the Woodinville High School main or cashier's offices.

Other SAT Exam Opportunities

SAT exams are also administered several times per year at other locations inside and outside of the Northshore School District.  Students will need to establish a College Board account before they can register for these tests.  It is important that the student registers with their own account, not a parent's account.  Creating an account takes about 30 minutes.  This is the same account that you will use if you are registering for an AP test.

With a College Board account, you can register for the SAT, and access/print your SAT Admission Ticket.  You can also access your SAT scores online and send them to colleges.  Additionally, an account lets you manage your personal college list, save your scholarship searches, compare costs at colleges that interest you, and more.

As these tests fill up quickly, we recommend that if you want to test at a convenient location that you sign up for the SAT early.  Otherwise, you might end up taking the test at a location further away.

Registration and further information about the SAT can be found at:
School Photos & ID Cards
Picture Make-Up Day September 12

School Photos & ID Cards - Picture Make-Up Day, Tuesday, September 12

All students must have a WHS ID card picture taken.  The WHS photo ID card is free of charge.  Students must carry photo ID at school and at extra-curricular activities at all times.

If a student missed Falcon Days, picture make-up day is Tuesday, September 12 during both lunches in the Gym/Theatre Foyer.

Retake day is Thursday, October 19 during both lunches in the Gym/Theatre Foyer.

All photo packages will be mailed home.

Picture packages may be ordered online at dorianstudio.com and searching for Woodinville High School.

Lost Cards
If a student loses an ID/ASB card, check at the Main Office as often they are turned in.  If the card cannot be found, lost ID/ASB cards can be replaced for $5.00 at the Cashier's Office.  ASB membership can be purchased for $60.

Misprinted Cards
If for some reason a student's ID card is missing the Woodinville logo, has a wrong student number, name or wrong image, please stop by the Cashier's Office, as well, for a reprint free of charge.

Yearbooks are sold on a pre-sale basis ONLY for $55 each during September 6-22, and, finally, November 28-15.

PURSUANT TO RESALE TAX RULES, YEARBOOKS WILL NOT BE SOLD AT ANY OTHER TIME DURING THE 2021 – 2022 SCHOOL YEAR.
  • Yearbooks can be purchased during the above sales window online through Touchbase or at the Cashier's Office before school, during options, lunch, or after school.
  • Please plan accordingly as many students who believe they do not want a yearbook during the sale windows at the start of the year feel differently as the school year comes to a close and they are unable to purchase one!
  • Please be reminded that if during the course of the year more than one yearbook is purchased – there will be NO REFUNDS. If you purchase two yearbooks, you will be given two books, not one book and a refund for the other.
Class of 2024 Senior Yearbook Photos:
Due Thurs, Oct 26

Provided size and other requirements are met, seniors can submit a photograph for the yearbook from whichever professional photographer a family chooses; OR a photograph taken by an amateur; OR seniors can choose to have the free Dorian photo (taken for their required ID card during Falcon Days or on make-up day September 14) published in the yearbook.  Learn more about specific requirements on the Yearbook website at https://woodinville.nsd.org/activities/yearbook-2023-24.

Class of 2024 Yearbook Questions
Should you have any questions, please email Ms. Alder at salder@nsd.org.

*Details regarding the upload of senior yearbook photos will follow after school starts, well before the October 26 deadline. Once the information becomes available, most professional photographers can upload the image for the senior or can provide the senior with a .jpeg image digitally for the senior to upload themselves.

TOUCHBASE: Access to Make Online Payments, View Account Balance & Payment History

TouchBase is a web-based application that allows parents/guardians with the ability to make payments online and view their student’s account balance and payment history. Although cash, checks, and debt/credit cards are accepted at the Cashier’s Office and Main Office at WHS, making payments online through TouchBase is a constant 24/7 method of payment available for our families.

The link to make online payments at TouchBase can be found on the WHS homepage at woodinville.nsd.org under “Resources>Payments”. Like ParentVUE, where parents/guardians check student grades, usernames and passwords for Leota Middle School and Timbercrest Middle School students remain the same and carry forward to WHS and if a parent/guardian has more than one student, the TouchBase login information will provide access to all of their students’ accounts.

Parents/Guardians in need of their assigned TouchBase username and password should email whsattendance@nsd.org. We are unable to provide the information over the phone.

Access ParentVUE to View Grades/Attendance/Student Details

ParentVUE is a web-based application that provide parents and guardians with information regarding their student via a secure website.
  • ParentVUE allows parents and guardians to view grades including grades for specific assignments. Please consult with your students’ teacher(s) for more information on the specific reports they post.
  • Students access their information via StudentVUE, a separate web-based application, and are provided with their own username and password. Parents/Guardians must not share their login information to their ParentVue account with their student, as ParentVUE accounts afford parents/guardians with the ability to change their demographic and contact information.
The link to ParentVUE can be found on the WHS homepage at woodinville.nsd.org under “Resources”. Parents and guardians are provided with an Activation Key to then establish their username and password. If a parent/guardian has more than one student, this login information will provide access to all of their students throughout NSD. Usernames and passwords for Leota Middle School and Timbercrest Middle School students remain the same and carry forward to Woodinville High School.

Where do parents/guardians new to WHS obtain their ParentVUE Activation Key?
If you are a parent/guardian who is new to WHS and need an Activation Key to establish a username and password to access ParentVUE there are two options:
  1. Appear in person at the WHS Attendance Office, show ID, and pick up the Activation Key or
  2. Send an email request with your student’s name to whsattendance@nsd.org requesting the information.  The email address will be confirmed and the information will then be emailed to the parent/guardian.
We apologize for the inconvenience; however, Activation Keys cannot be provided verbally over the phone due to the sensitivity of the information involved.

Forgot your ParentVUE username and password?
Once a parent/guardian establishes a username and password, WHS does not have access to it.  If lost, parents/guardians should follow the prompts on the ParentVUE site to recover it.

Questions? Contact Attendance Secretary and WHS Online Parent Resource Coordinator Shaina Bloomquist at whsattendance@nsd.org.

NSD REQUIRED FORMS DUE SUNDAY, OCTOBER 15, 2023!

Passes Required for Elevator Use

As we start the 2023-2024 school year please note that in order to use the elevator, students are required to check out an elevator pass in the Main Office with Mrs. Benedict.

The ONLY students who should be using the elevator are students with medical conditions. If a student is seen using the elevator without a pass that has been checked out, they will receive progressive discipline.

Cars and Parking Lots During Options & Lunch

A reminder that students are not to be hanging out in cars or in the parking lots during options or lunch. Students were reminded of this during Falcon Days, is not a new policy, but one that we are returning to reinforcing this year for safety and supervision reasons both for students individually and for all WHS students. We will continue to remind students of this the first two days of school, but expect all students are aware of and following this policy after that.

Attendance Updates for 2023-2024

Students arriving late MUST scan their student I.D. cards or the I.D. card available on their phones through the StudentVUE App at the Attendance office. Students are required to have their Student I.D. cards on them at all times while on campus.

If your student does not have their student I.D. card or a phone to login to their StudentVUE account, they will have the ability to login to StudentVUE on the iPad at the Attendance Office.

Please come prepared ready to show your I.D. card when you arrive late to school to help keep things moving quickly.

Reduced or Waived Fees 2023-24
Don't forget... families must re-apply every year!

Parents and guardians whose income falls within specified guidelines set by the U.S. Department of Agriculture should apply for free or reduced-price meals for their students. Applications will be available August 1st and are due by October 17th to avoid an interruption in benefits (only one application is required per family), but families can apply at any time during the year – throughout the year.

If you qualify for Free or Reduced Meals you may also qualify for:
  • School fee waivers (a fee waiver consent form must be completed) in addition to the Free and Reduced application.
    • See below for more information or contact your school counselor (available after August 23).
  • Other services such as health insurance.
    • Contact Nurse Christie Callahan or Jennifer Gardner for more information.
The free and reduced online application only takes a few minutes and is the fastest, easiest way to get approved.  Find the online application here: https://linqconnect.com/. Further information can be found on NSD’s Food Services website at https://www.nsd.org/schools/get-started/food-services/free-and-reduced-price-breakfast-lunch.

STUDENT ON-CAMPUS PARKING 2023-2024

Beginning Monday, September 18, students must have a valid WHS 2023-2024 parking hanger in their car to park on the WHS campus. Students are strongly encouraged to ride the school bus or carpool for space and environmental reasons.

Parking hanger applications for the 2023-2024 school year were accepted at the end of last school year. Payment for students pre-approved to purchase a WHS parking pass can be made online through TouchBase. All fines must be paid before a parking hanger can be issued. Students who pay online should bring in their receipt of payment when picking up their parking hanger from the campus supservisor. Parking is limited and will close once all available hangers have been issued. Please contact Mr. Dillman regarding parking availability if an application was not made at the end of last school year.

Students who do not have a parking hanger on September 18 must park on the street until it is purchased. The cost of parking hangers is $50 per year/$20 per seasonal sport/activity. The purchase of a parking hanger does not guarantee students a parking space every day. All parking is on a first-come, first-served basis in designated student parking areas. Parking on the WHS campus is limited. Please see the priority parking plan below.

The parking priority plan is as follows:

Seniors with WANIC/Health Science/Running Start class where there is no district shuttle offered.

Juniors with WANIC/Health Science/Running Start class where there is no district shuttle offered.

Seniors who participate in after school sanctioned sports and pre-approved after school activities.

Juniors who participate in after school sanctioned sports and pre-approved after school activities.

Seniors who have waivers or work after school.

Remaining seniors in the lottery.

If you have questions, contact Campus Supervisor Alan Dillman at adillman@nsd.org.
WHS Main Office Copy Brigade Parent/Guardian Volunteers needed!

The Main Office is looking to fill spots for the 2023-24 Copy Brigade! The Copy Brigade program focuses on ten or more regularly committed volunteers making photocopies and laminating items submitted to the Main Office Copy Center by faculty and staff, as well as providing assistance keeping the work room copy center organized. Regular, committed volunteers are needed Monday through Friday for a 2-hour window between 8:20 - 12:20 p.m.

Volunteers who are able to commit to regular and consistent participation are key to the effectiveness of this program. Volunteers are encouraged to team up in pairs and, for example, volunteer every other Tuesday, alternating with their partner.  Then, if a Tuesday volunteer can’t make it, the alternating Tuesday partner may be able to swap days and fill in.  In the event a Work Room Copy Center volunteer is unable to make it on their specified day and a back-up person cannot be located, the Main Office Secretary is contacted so alternate arrangements can be made for that day.

Please email Main Office Secretary Kim Benedict at whsoffice@nsd.org if interested and advise the day of the week you would like to volunteer!

Please note:  All NSD volunteers complete a mandatory volunteer training, background check, and submit proof of vaccination prior to volunteering. Masks are optional.

More information regarding volunteer paperwork requirements is available on the district website.

Thank you Falcon Families!

Student Device Protection Plan

The Northshore School District provides each student with a district-issued technology device. When students/families assume responsibility for a district-issued device, they sign forms agreeing to accept financial responsibility for any device damage or loss.  We know accidents and loss can happen. The Student Device Protection Plan provides NSD families an optional path to mitigate the financial liability of using a district device.

PARTICIPATION COST: The standard payment to enroll in the NSD Student Device Protection Plan is $25 per year; free for students who have qualified for free or reduced-price meals and who have provided consent to share their status for fee waivers. No refunds will be given once enrolled in this program.

COVERAGE AND BENEFIT: This program covers the device (Chromebook, Macbook, or iPad) loaned to your student against accidental damage for the school year. This program does NOT cover damage resulting from misuse or neglectful loss of the device. We expect all students to properly use their device and to secure it when it is not being used.  If the device is used improperly or is not secured while the student is not using it, families will be expected to pay the full cost of replacement or repair.
